"I'm so tired..." Lance mumbled as he curled himself into a ball on his bed. "I'm so tired of having to pick myself up every day...tired of forcing down my tears and putting on a smile."
He sniffled and wiped away his tears "I'm so TIRED!" and with that the floodgates opened, he pressed his face into the pillow to smother the noise. "I try and try and try to lighten the mood with my jokes and positive attitude but- but it seems like I only achieve the opposite."
"I-I I'm sorry guys b-but I can't do this anymore...At home my family would help each other up, if you were down there would always be someone to help you up but here I'm all alone. I am so tired of having to be the support." He vented to himself "I made it my goal in life to spread the joy...t-to help others...but ya know every now and then I want help too."
"I feel so heavy and emotionally run down a-and like every time I feel real joy something happens to force me down again but I have to stay happy for the sake of the others. I HAVE to pick myself up again and SMILE for the sake of Allura and everyone else"
"B-but I a-am so t-t-tired" Lance climbed under the covers and decide that he's gonna sleep now even if it was in the middle of the day. "Maybe i just need some sleep...yeah I'll feel better when i get up" he mumbled as he slowly dozed off.
A few hours later Shiro sent Hunk to go find Lance since he didn't come for lunch when they called everyone. hunk wondered around the castle, poking his head into every room as he called out to Lance. "He's probably watching anime in his room or something" Hunk said as he walked down the hallway towards Lance's room. Hunk stepped inside the dark room as soon as the doors fully slid open.
"Lance?" When no one answered Hunk switched on the lights and saw Lance sleeping on his bed with his face buried in his pillow. He slowly advanced closer to the bed, careful not to step on any of Lance's things on the floor. When he got close enough he gently pulled the pillow towards his causing Lance's head to turn (does that make sense?) until Hunk could see his tear streaked face "Wha-?" He bent down to get a closer look at Lance's face, jip, he definitely cried recently...but why? He probably misses his family "yeah that's it" Hunk whispered
Hunk poked his cheek with his index finger. "Are you okay?"
Lance groaned and pulled the pillow back to him and covered his face again "What do you want Hunk?" Hunk quickly straightened up and cleared his throat "uh yeah! I came to get you, because its lunch time and your probably hungry since you missed breakfast. "Hmmmmm yeah, thank you Hunk...You go ahead I'll catch up" Lance stuck out his tongue and clapped his hands together.
Hunk flashed him a thumbs up and left, as soon as hunk was out Lance dropped his goofy expression and sluggishly got up and dragged his feet while walking over to the bathroom. He looked at himself in the mirror and smiled at his reflection. No, not convincing enough, Allura will see right through it...well that is if she ever looked. His eyes were still red from sleeping, or was it from the crying?
Lance opened the tap and put his head under, allowing the cold water to fix his puffy face. He then made his way to the others leaving his wet hair the way it is.
"HeYooo! How are all you beautiful people doing?" Lance cheerfully asked while shooting the others with finger guns. He fully intended to sit next to Keith since Hunk always gives Keith special when it comes to the food, probably because he doesn't eat enough so when he actually DOES eat Hunk makes sure to feed his properly. So when Keith's delicious extras comes along Lance can snatch one or two. But OBVIUSLY when Keith noticed that he was about to sit NEXT to his he immediately got up to move elsewhere.
"Maybe we should talk about you sleeping while we're supposed to be training...anything could happen at any time and we have to stay prepared. You could die because you weren't prepared!" Keith said while getting up and walking over to where Coran was sitting.
"Awww so Keefy does care whether we live or die."
"Now is not the time Lance!"
Lance sighed and plopped down onto his seat "It's never the right time Keith...Like when will you ever just leave me be, I am cheerful and bright and your the opposite, deal with it...Trust me I know, I know its hart to look at this face and not get jealous." he said, putting his feet up on the table while motioning at himself.
"What's there to be jealous of?" Pidge snickered as she poked her head up from behind her laptop screen. "Pidge! please, no technology at table" Shiro lightly scolded. Pidge grumbled some nonsense while closing the laptop and moving it elsewhere.
Lance knew she was joking but it still hurt, he fully knew that he didn't contribute much to the team. What was going on in his head must've shown on his face because Allura suddenly stood up and looked directly at Lance "You know she didn't mean what she just said, right? You have a lot of talents and you are an essential part of this team, after all the blue lion chose YOU."
"Yeah...Thank you Allura."
Before she could answer Coran quickly interrupted while scratching the back of his head awkwardly "Wasn't this supposed to be lunch time?"
"R-Right" Allura sat down again "well then let's proceed"
Hunk cleared his throat and started explaining today's meal or rather, what he added to the goo for this meal.
After lunch Lance watched as everyone went in their different directions while he slumped into his seat and closed his eyes.
"lance?"
He cracked open to look at Allura, she was standing in front of him twiddling her thumbs.
"yes Princess"
"I was wondering if we could talk..."
"Sure, why not."
He got up and followed het to her room. she went to sit on her bed and Lance leaned up against the doorframe.
"So recently I've noticed that something was rather off with you, and the mice told me that you have been crying a lot recently. Is it about your family? I know you must miss them terribly."
He sighed "Yeah amongst other things."
She got up and hugged Lance, he hesitantly wrapped his arms around him "Lance?"
"hmm"
"Are you all right? You can tell me if your not."
"No need to worry Princess I'm perfectly fine, I'm always fine, these eyes never cry." He said as he rested his chin on the top of her head.
Allura knew he was lying because the walked past his room earlier and heard him but she was afraid of pressuring him. Even if he won't tell her anything she vowed that she offer her undivided support.
