Izuku blinked owlishly, his body naturally shrunk at the attention, and flinched at the sneers and scoffs from his classmates. His eyes came in contact with familiar fiery eyes, the belittling, cruel ruby orbs. Izuku bit his lips, looking down at his lap, eyes watering with unshed tears. At that moment, it was too hard to breath, he wished for something, someone to save him and then he heard it, 'Stand up,'
All the playfulness from Sensei's voice was gone.
He slowly opened his eyes, ah right, he was not alone. The tremendous relief lightened his aching chest. Unknowingly, tears were falling off his eyes, and the whispering intensified.
"PFFFt look the wuss is crying,"
"Oh my god, such a crybaby!"
"Deku will always be deku!"
All of these harsh words flew over his head, the only thing that mattered was his Nyanko-sensei.
'Izuku, stand up,'
'S-Se-nsei,' He called out weakly, the cat didn't make fun of him for being weak, instead his voice got firmer, 'Stand up and leave,'
'B-But, I can't just do t-t-hat...No, I can't.'
'The asshole said so himself that you can leave, so leave. STOP letting everyone walk all over you, leave!' The cat repeated his command.
"I-I," he muttered out weakly, getting emotionally messed up, not noticing that he was speaking his thoughts aloud. That earned a few curious glances from the bullies.
'Do you want to live like this till the day you die? Feeling bad for yourself, not standing up for yourself and not loving yourself properly!'
Izuku squeezed his pants, crumpling the fabric, he shook his head frivolously.
'If you really love yourself, you won't allow anybody to talk you like that! If so, walk away from this bullshit, that is the least thing you can do, a punch would be good, but knowing you; it'd be impossible.'
"I-I can't do that!"
'I know that so leave with your head held high!'
Izuku stood up, legs shaking all over resembling a newborn fawn, "Midoriya?" the teacher asked confusedly.
"You better have a good reason for interrupting me!"
'Good, kid. The only thing left for you is to leave and all of this will be gone.'
Izuku balled his trembling hands, forcing them into fists, "I-I-I'm L-eaving..."
The class erupted into uncontrolled laughter at the fake bravado the nerd was exhibiting, even the teacher was snickering. Knowing that the kid won't have the courage to leave the class. The nerd who always accepted the harsh treatment wouldn't defend himself, so what's the difference now?
'Kid, you are doing great, so the only thing left is to leave.'
Surprisingly, the greenette didn't crack under the pressure, sure he clumsily packed his stuff in his bag, stumbling over his own feet as he nervously strapped his bag, he looked back at the teacher and took a deep breath, and he made sure that he made an eye contact with the rude teacher, his vision was blurry, he didn't know if they were just tears or his shaking pupils, at this point, he couldn't get himself to care about it, "I-I'm leaving..."
It came out as a mumble, earning a mocking look from the teacher, "What? I can't hear you!"
Izuku flinched, closing his eyes involuntary at the barking tone. Surprisingly, that didn't shut the boy down (he was scared, shaking down to his fragile core), he gulped, harshly; in which it was heard by the people around him, their laughter not fazing him anymore (Alone, he was fighting all alone, like always, they've scarred him deeply and it never disappeared). The humiliation of being stared down by his peers and a supposedly sensible adult was nothing new, so whatever damage they wanted to do was not something foreign to him (they could not break what has already been shattered), forest green eyes slowly steeled into determination, and this time everyone heard him loud and clear, "I am leaving!" he bowed his head and took long, kind of confident strides towards the sliding door. He slowly huffed as he stepped out of the class, closing the door behind him. His heart hammering against his ribcage.
'I did it...' that was the only thing that rang in his head, foot planted outside of the class, not sensing the astonished stares from the people inside, not at all. Slowly, a watery grin appeared on the child's face, he squeezed his eyes shut. 'I finally did it' He covered his eyes with shaky palms, it was as if the imaginary shackles that was tying him in this hell-hole was finally released, leaving him with such a light feeling.
Izuku found himself walking away, away from the humiliation, sadness, bullying, neglect, nightmare he was living in.
Heart still thumping widely at the new sense of freedom. Izuku relaxed under the warmth of the sun, and his legs took of the oppisite direction from his school.
"Now, what should we do?!" Izuku exclaimed. Now that he doesn't need to go to school, he found that has a lot of free time in his hands.
"For now, let's just eat!" Sensei poofed out his earring mode, going all plump and nice, landing on the fluffy green mess of a hair.
Izuku sighed, trying to look disappointed, but the grin that he was trying to suppress; shone, showing his pearly white teeth. "That's Sensei for you, but seriously Sensei we just ate like a minute ago,"
"Didn't you burn it all away when you were hopping around,"
Izuku laughed at the word choice, "Only you sensei will call a monstrous jump as a hop."
A sly smirk morphed on the cat's already sleazy face, "Then, you just have to unlock more of the damned quirk~"
Izuku tilted his head, wondering what he meant by that, but he chose to ignore it.
Izuku headed back home with a slight prance in his steps, he weirdly felt happy, his chest no longer constricted in that painful way. Maybe he was finally breathing in oxygen correctly? Izuku giggled at the thought.
"You are officially a dumbass,"
"Rude!"
Izuku stuck his tongue out to show the rebel he was to the cat, and that earned him a painful eye roll. Izuku sighed and continued his way back.
Dabi was now questioning his life choice, was he really cursed?
Why the hell was his landlord such a devil, as soon as he stepped out of his apartment. Mito caught him between her shiny claws. With that devil like smirk, she pushed a watering tin in his hands and had him wear a lovely pink apron with a big heart drawn on it.
He was the villain, GOD DAMMIT.
And why was he complying her requests, he was in no way obligated to listen to her, nor obey her, but somehow the promising look of pain fazed his stoned resolution. Gosh, let's get this shit done.
Dabi looked over the area he should water. Eyes get all squinty and narrowed...
...ARE YOU FKING WITH ME WOMAN? ALL YOU HAVE IS GRASS!
Dabi felt his hands shake with anger, yup he should burn the damn place, he felt like incarnating the metal tin first, that will be the first thing he does! The scarred man turned around to go find the woman and knock some sense in her.
And then he saw him...
Broccoli...
It was the broccoli brat, trying his hardest not to snort in laughter, and the cat was not even masking the amused look he was wearing? Wait, were cats that good at expressing themselves?! Dabi rubbed his eyes, Yup, that cat was still wearing the sleazy look, must be the cat's usual faze. Sheesh, talk about creepy.
His eyes hardened at the quivering brat, "The hell are you looking at?!"
Izuku shook his head, still biting his lips, "Nothing..." Izuku scurried up the stairs, a smile forming on his lips.
Izuku was heading towards his unit, grab a change of clothes and head out again towards the forest.
"Are you skipping?" Dabi's voice halted Izuku's steps, grim expression on the scarred man's face, must be because of the clothes choice. The greenette blinked, pursing his lips, Sensei's eyes formed crescents when a beautiful smile bloomed on the teen's face, "U-huh, I guess I just love myself!" before skipping away to his room.
Water was dripping on the wet patch on the grass.
The hell was that damn brat saying? Narcissism?
Dabi shrugged and continued watering...the grass. It will sure be long day before he's done with this.
