Best Mistake

Chapter 21

Katara sat on her bed, she was stressing. Some things happened with Aang, he hasn't showed any signs of movement in his legs or from the waist down. Katara has gotten worried for him over the past week. He has been in the hospital for about a week now.

She has been seeing Aang everyday and she has also been staying home because you know she's grounded. During the day Katara has been babysitting for other parents while they are at work. The only time Katara sees Aang is in the afternoon or night.

It was currently 3:41 pm on a Tuesday and Katara was taking care of her last kid of the day. Her name was Evelyn and she was six years old. She was also a young airbending girl, but she never ruined or broke anything around the house.

Katara was looking at her nail polishes. "What's your favorite color?"

Evelyn sat ok Katara's bed, playing with her fingers. "Ummm purple." Katara took out a purple polish and went to sit on the bed with Evelyn.

"Ok! Are you ready to paint your nails?" Katara asked as she opened the nail polish. "Yes!"

Katara started to paint Evelyn nails one by one. She never messed up once, the nail polish was perfectly painted onto her nails. They let her nails dry as Katara fixed her vanity. As she picked up her make up and jewelry she saw the ring Aang gave her on her birthday. Katara was admiring the ring, she slipped it on her left middle finger.

She continued cleaning her messy vanity. Evenly was playing a game on Katara's phone.

Evenly stopped playing on the phone as she saw Katara her a notification on her phone. "Katara you got a text from you boyfriend." She teased the waterbender.

Katara stopped cleaning. She walked over to get her phone from the small airbender. Katara chuckled as she read the message. She texted him back.

"What does your boyfriend look like?" The little girl blurted out. Katara looked at her and smiled. "You wanna see a picture?" Evenly nodded as she Katara walked over to her a pulled a picture of Aang and her on prom night.

"Wow. You two are really cute!" Katara smiled at her kind comment. "Thanks! you want to know something cool?"

The little girl gasped, "yes!"

"He's also the Avatar." Katara whispered to Evenly. She furrowed her brows and asked. "What's a Avatar?"

Katara sighed, "well you know how you can bend air? Well Aang can bend all the elements like water, earth, fire, and air."

"That's so cool!" As Evenly said that the two girls heard the door bell ring. They both walked downstairs to be met by Evenly's mom.

Gloria.

"Hi! Was evenly good today?" Gloria asked as her daughter gave her a hug, Katara just watched. "She was very good today. Evenly show your mother your nails."

Evenly showed her mother her nails and they both smiled at each other. "Thank you Katara for taking care of her today. Here's 25 dollars." "Thank you. Bye!." Katara said as she took the money from Gloria. She closed the door and went upstairs to take off her concealer that cover her small under eye bags.

She was exhausted she would get at least four hours of sleep every night. she would sometimes take naps when she had the chance to. And thankfully today was one of those days. She jumped in bed and put an alarm on at 6:20 pm, so she had about two hours to sleep before she sees Aang.

She got back up to turn her lights off and close her curtains so the room would be dark. Then she got back in bed, strangely today it was easier for her to go to sleep. And she definitely wasn't complaining.
