The next day, Obi-Wan and Anakin speak to the council about last night's events. They even concur that it is indeed odd that even a bounty hunter would go after senators instead of big-time criminals. Yoda agrees that most troubling, recent developments have been. As soon as Anakin and Obi-Wan leave, Anakin gets a holocall from Padme. "Hey? Annie? I'd like to make up for last night by inviting you over for lunch, should you choose to accept." Anakin is ecstatic at the proposal. He apologizes to Obi-Wan as he hangs up. Obi-Wan tells him that there's no need to apologize. The chancellor called him shortly before the meeting began, telling him that he needs to say something important. But he can call him back right now. Anakin bids Obi-Wan farewell and walks off.
Obi-Wan activates his communicator. Palpatine tells him that with the recent kidnapping, now would be the perfect time to tell the Kaminoans that now would be a good time for an army they can clone. Obi-Wan wishes him well in the negotiations. Palpatine says no and that Obi-Wan would be going in his stead. Obi-Wan says he understands.
