BONUS CHAPPIE!!!

Annabeth's Past

"Daddy?"

"Yes?" He answers picking me up and setting me on his lap.

"What happened to mommy?"

He starts to tear up. "Well, your mommy loves both of us dearly but.... She had to leave. She didn't want to leave you. But she had to." He says to me.

I only asked because kids were talking about their moms. I didn't know much at the time so I just nodded and moved on. I asked this when I was 2.

That night I heard someone crying.

"Daddy! Are you okay?"

"Yes honey. Everything is alright."

I look at his face and saw it stained with tears. "What's wrong daddy?"

He sighs. "Well I just heard that mommy found someone else to love. She got married today."

I nod unsure what any of that means.

We sit in silence for a bit.

"Come on Beth. You need to sleep."

He carries me over to my room and carefully places me in bed. He kisses my forehead and mummers something. Then he walks away.

After that night I found my dad crying a lot. He always said stuff like, "Annabeth doesn't deserve this" and "A kid shouldn't be abandoned at birth". I always used to just shrug and walk away. But now I realize it was so much more.

(1 years later)

I turned 3 today. I wake up to use the bathroom. I pad down the hall. The bathroom door is locked and I hear muffled crying. 

I knock, "Daddy? Is that you?"

I door unlocks and my dad's face is streaked with tears, his eyes blood shot, his normally neat blonde hair is a rat's nest.

"Remember mommy?" I nod. "Well you now have a half brother."

"What does that mean?" I ask.

"Well remember 2 years ago you asked what happened to mommy. Well she got married and had a baby. It's a healthy baby boy named Malcolm."

A smile slips onto my face. "Really?! Can I meet him?"

His face darkens, "No. Maybe one day you can meet him. But not now."

That was it. I had a new half brother. I didn't understand how hurt my dad was. But now I do.

(A few months after Malcolm was born)

'Annabeth Chase please come to the office'

I shrug and head up to a teacher. They walk with me to the office.

"Annabeth!" Dad yells when I get in the office.

"Daddy? What are you doing here?"

"Honey, your mom passed away."

I know what that means. I feel a tear slide down my cheek. I may have not known her but I still love her. 

I ladies in the room with us looked at us with sympathy. My dad pulls me into a hug. We stay like that for a while.

"Bethy, go pack your stuff. I'm going to take you home."

I nod and head out with a teacher.
