Chapter 23.

Later that night I got a phone call around 11. They found Cooper underneath my porch. He was there the whole time and he was fine. I was relieved at those words that I started crying. I went to sleep relieved that night.

In the morning I got up in my pjs and put on my robe and slipper. I then went downstairs to Jeffery's bacon egg breakfast with tea. Of course my grandmas didn't join me since she was busy.

"Jeffery good news! They found Cooper!" I said while sipping my tea

"That's terrific! I told you everything would be ok."

"Yeah and thanks for your pep talk yesterday. It really boosted my spirit."

"Anytime, since your grandma is still busy would you like to see your ranch?"

"My what?"

"Ranch. The one which you now own."

"I didn't see a ranch in the will, I didn't even know we owned one! Why didn't anyone mention this before?"

"It wasn't in the will but it's what your grandma owns, so it's yours. I don't think your mother even knew about it."

"Oh but yes let's go see it! When are we leaving?"

"As soon as you can get changed, I'm predicting in 2 hours?" He smirked

"Ha very funny. Not all girls take that long JEFF!"

"Alright Miss Zoey, I'll clean up while you do what you have to do."

"Okay."

I ran upstairs and put on my black high waisted jeans with my fuzzy grey sweater. I then threw on my boots and brushed my hair and threw it in a pony tail. I did some light makeup and then grabbed my phone and went downstairs.

"How long was that?" I asked Jeffery as he passed me in the living room.

"47 minutes and 22 seconds." He showed me his timer.

"You timed me!? Wow."

"But it was quite an impressive time, here let's take the limo. I'll drive?"

"Yeah I don't trust myself with fancy cars anyway."

We went inside and as I was walking out my grandma came in with some men in suits. I said hi but she just kept walking. I got in the limo and Jeffery started it up.

"She doesn't have to ignore me." I said

"She's just under a lot of pressure."

"What is she even doing? I don't get her sometimes."

"One day it will all make sense to you, but I'm not the one to tell."

After about a 10 minute ride we got to the ranch, it was beautiful. There was about 20 horses, each a different color and breed. There was 4 barns and a little cabin. People were walking around carrying hay stacks and buckets of water. I'm guessing they work here.

"Can I ride one?" I asked anxiously

"Sure, pick your favorite."

I basically ran over to the horses, they were incredible creatures! I looked at each one and felt really bad not being able to pick them all but I knew I'd have a favorite at one point. I stumbled upon a brown hours with a white streak going down his face. He was it.

"This one." I said

"Good choice, I felt like you would go for him."

"Does he have a name?" I pet his head and fed him an apple.
