Chapter 21

( Colby's POV )

When y/n got up our waitress came over to see if we were ready to pay. "Colby?" "Lucy? What are you doing here?" "I work here now obviously" "You want some fries? The girl I'm here with doesn't want them anymore." she sat down "Girlfriend?" she wiggled her eyebrows and we both laughed, she was almost crying. "Not yet, soon hopefully" that's when she threw my hoodie at me and kept walking. Shit. I chased after her.

We were standing in the kitchen, still hugging. It had been about 5 minutes but I didn't wanna let go, I was glad when she told me she felt the same way and that she met me explain. I was scared I had lost her but I got her back. "You sleepy?" "mhmm" "Go lay down then, I'll see you in the morning. We leave tomorrow." "Tomorrow is Wednesday? Already? We only have 12 days- wait nevermind thats still a lot" she giggled. She went to change. "Shit I dont have any pajamas. The one thing I forgot go pack. I slept in my jeans last night, I don't wanna do jt again" "I have a pair of joggers and you can use one of my shirts if you want" "Sure, thanks" I gave her the clothes and she went to change. When she came out she hugged me one last time before getting in her bed. She was adorable. I went and changed and when I came back out she was asleep. I pulled the blanket up and walked to my bed.

I woke up sometime around one in the morning and it sounded like y/n was crying. I got up to see if she was okay but she was still asleep. I woke her up. "Hey, you okay princess?" I poked her a few times until her eyes fluttered oped and she gave me a tired smile. "Hey" "Hey, you okay? It sounded like you were crying" "bad dream" she said quietly. I turned to get back in my bed when she stopped me. "will you stay with me?" "You sure?" "please" I walked around to the other side of her bed and crawled in. She scooted closer and put her head on my chest and I listened as her breathing got slower and heavier. I fell asleep shortly after holding her.

It was around eleven when I woke up with y/n still asleep on my chest. She had her arm around my stomach and her leg over mine. I checked my phone and saw Sam had texted me.

hey brother, how's everything going? the next hotel is the grand canyon lodge north rim. how's y/n?

hey man everything's going great, i need to call you later about something kind of important. she's doing good. we'll see you in 12 days.

I needed to get up without waking y/n up so I could clean up and she could sleep. I was gunna drive again so she could sleep if she wanted to. I leaned down and kissed the top of her head and carefully moved her off of me. I got up and started packing our stuff up and made my bed, she was still in hers. I went and got us some breakfast and she was up and dressed when I got back. "Morning sleepyhead, pancakes?" "Yes please. I'm starving" "Did you sleep okay?" she worried me before she asked me to stay. "I slept a lot better once you were there, I don't mean to sound weird but I usually can't sleep without my bear" she said looking down. "You didn't bring it?" "I forgot it" "Oh, I'm sorry" "Can I ask you a question? don't laugh" "Shoot" "um, will you stay with me every night until we get back home?" "If it helps you sleep" I had slept a lot better with her there too. "Where are we going next?" she asked while she threw away the trash from breakfast. "You gotta wait and see. Its a four hour drive again. So if we leave in 15 minutes, we should be there around four." "You want me to drive?" "No it's okay." We made sure we had everything and brushed our teeth but didn't bother changing. I grabbed the key card and we were gone. "This was fun, I'm sorry we didn't do much" "It's okay it was still fun." We made it to the front desk and returned the key. Y/n spun in circles as we were leaving looking up at the chandelier. "You ok?" I asked laughing "Yea just looking around one more time" she looked back at me and smiled as we walked our the door. When we get to the next hotel I'm gunna have to call Sam. I need to explain some things and ask him if it's okay to ask y/n to be my girlfriend. We got in the car and pulled out onto the road finding the higway not long after. Y/n had her knees to her chest and was staring out the window mesmerized by the cars going by. "Eyes on the road" she said giggling "It's not as easy as it sounds" I said winking at her and she blushed. I reached over to grab her hand but she stopped me "Both hands on the wheel" I grabbed her hand. "Both hands on the wheel?" I asked "no this is fine" she giggle quietly. She was playing with the rings on my fingers still watching cars go by. "How long are we staying at the next place?" "Today, tomorrow, and we leave Friday to wherever Sam tells me" "So basically 2 days and we leave the third day for all of them?" "Sounds like it."

We were halfway there when she said she was hungry, I was hungry too so I stopped at a Wendy's. "You wanna go in or just eat in the car?" "Eat on the way there so we can get there faster" "What do you want?" "Chicken nuggets and a chocolate frosty" I got the same thing. "You just dipped your chicken in your ice cream.." "Here try it" she put one in my mouth and I was confused "Why is it actually good?" she laughed as I reached over and she swatted my hand away. "You have your own" she said through laughs "Yea but I'm driving, I can't do it" "I'll do it you big baby" "Thanks" we laughed and talked about random stuff until we had five minutes left.
