I woke up a little earlier than I wanted to so I stayed cuddled into Colby's side. I looked up at him and he was still asleep. His face was relaxed, his hair messy across his forehead and his eyelashes casting small shadows over his eyes. I could stay here forever, but we had a hike to go on and I was excited for it but for now I was tired so I laid my head back down on his chest and listened to his heartbeat while I drifted back off to sleep.
Colby was awake when I woke up again but he hadn't moved. "What time is it?" I asked trying to somehow get closer. "12:30, so I guess good afternoon" his voice was rough with sleep. "Good afternoon, want some coffee?" I asked getting up and walking to turn the coffee pot on. I was so glad they put these things in hotel rooms. "I'm good, thanks though" I made my coffee and walked outside. After a few minutes I felt Colby grab my waist and pull me into a hug. "You gotta get ready soon, we're going on a hike remember?" "Oh yeaaaah, lemme finish my coffee first" I said excited. I hurried to finish my coffee and went to get my clothes. I put on an oversized, black nascar t shirt that had belonged to my dad and some black shorts. I pulled on my tennis shoes and went to brush my teeth and put my hair in a messy ponytail. I walked back out of the bathroom and Colby was already ready to go. He had a white t shirt on with black stars around the collar, black jeans with a pocket chain, and black vans. "You sure you can go on a hike in that?" I wouldn't be upset if he did, sure he was probably gunna get hot but he already was. "I do this all the time with Sam remember, I'll be okay. You wanna go with me to the store for food?" "Yes, I don't wanna be alone I get bored easy." He laughed and held his hand out, I gladly took it interlacing our fingers. We got in the car and headed to the closest grocery store.
Colby bought a cooler, ice, sparkling grape juice, fruit, sandwiches, and cupcakes for the picnic. "You didn't have to pay for all that Colby" "I know, but I wanted to" he said grinning at me, I swear this man was going to kill me by just smiling. We got in the car and headed to a hiking trail close to the cabins. When we found one, we got out of the car, Colby grabbed the cooler filled with our picnic, and we started walking. We talked more about our childhood and he told me about his adventures with Sam. "You've never seen our videos?" He asked surprised "I've seen a few of them, they were good. I haven't seen all of them, and it's been forever since I saw one. That's why I didn't know who any of you guys were the day I moved in." "Well, you wanna have a Sam and Colby marathon later?" "Sure why not" we kept walking, laughing and talking along the way when we came up on a lookout. The view was breathtaking. "It's even more beautiful in person" "Yea it is, I feel like I'm in a post card" he laughed. "Hungry?" I turned and nodded "You have no idea." He laid the blanket out and set the food up. We ate our food and sat around for about two hours enjoying each other's company. "It's 3 o'clock, you wanna walk around for a bit and watch the sunset back here later?" I bet that would be even more beautiful so I agreed. He left the cooler and ice there but he brought the blanket in case we wanted to stop and take a break. Colby reached for my hand so I let him take it. I liked how our hands seemed to fit perfectly together. I knew he liked me and he knew I liked him, what was stopping him from asking me to be his girlfriend? I pushed the thought out of my mind and focused on Colby, I was playing with his rings and he stopped walking. "What's wrong?" "It's hot, I need a minute" "Me and Sam do this all the time remember, I'll be okay." I said mocking him from earlier, he shook his head and laughed "I said it was hot, not that it was hard to walk. Nice try though" "Doesn't matter, you said you'd be fine" we both laughed and I sat next to him leaning my head on his shoulder. "You wanna just come back later? We can go sit in the air conditioning" I said wiggling my eyebrows and elbowing him he nodded and laughed "Sure, only because you said so and definitely not because I'm secretly dying out here" I rolled my eyes and got up. The walk back to the car was quiet but comfortable, he had the blanket in one hand and my hand in the other. I couldn't think of anything else I'd rather be doing, and I couldn't imagine doing it with anyone else. I wasn't fomd of Sam's idea at first but now I didn't want it to end. It was perfect.
I took a shower when we got back, I smelled like outside and sweat. I took a quicker shower than usual and changed into ome of my plain shirts and a pair of Colby's joggers. Why did he have so many? I hurried and finished getting ready because I wanted to spend more time with Colby. It was almost 4:30 when I got out so we had an hour snd and a half before we left for our date, if you could call it that. I ended up taking a nap on Colby's shoulder and woke up to him playing with a few strands of my hair but It didn't look like he realized what he was doing. How could one human being be so beautiful? It really wasn't fair.
