The Road Trip (Colby Brock)

Chapter 27

( Colby's POV )

Y/n was driving this time so that means I could look at her and we wouldn't be in danger. Thank you Sam. She had my clothes on and her hair was in a messy bun, she had her glasses on. She was adorable. "What?" she asked looking at me and smiling for a second before looking back at the road "Enjoying the view" "That's out the window" she said blushing "I like this one better." She shook her head and laughed. "Can you drive with one hand?" "Yea why?" I reached over, grabbed her hand and kissed her knuckles. "What time is it?" she asked looking in the rear view mirror before switching into the fast lane. "1:27" "I'm gunna stop at a McDonald's or something, I'm hungry. We should be there around 10 am tomorrow." About a mile and a half later she took an exit to a small town just off the highway. We drove for a couple minutes until we saw the golden archs. "You wanna go in and eat?" I asked needing to stretch "Yea, I need to get out of the car for a little while." She pulled in the parking lot and pulled into a spot. I leaned over and kissed her cheek before getting out of the car and walking over to her side grabbing her hand once she got out. We walked inside and I ordered our food while she found a spot to sit. I paid and took the food over to the booth by the window and sat next to her. She scooted closer and laid her head on my shoulder. "I got you chicken nuggets and ice cream" she looked up at me smiling "I'm not sharing this time" I laughed and we ate our food. Y/n finished before I did so she wrapped her arm around mine and laid her head back on my shoulder. "We haven't really done anything except go out to eat and go on a hike our whole trip. When we get to New Orleans I'm taking you on a real date" I said realising that we really hadn't explored anywhere we went. "Where we goin?" she asked "It's a surprise, I'll have to look at what they have when we get in the car" "Alright." She sat up and stretched a little "Lemme out, I gotta pee" I stood up and threw the trash away. I waited for her by the door and we left. Before she got in the car I grabbed her by the waist from behind and turned her around moving my hands to the small of her back. She put her hands around the back of my neck, stood on her toes and closed the space between us. She pulled back way too soon so I kissed her forehead then her nose an lifted her chin to meet her lips with mine one more time. She giggled and pulled back again "We gotta go" "We don't HAVE to" "Sam paid for the rooms remember" she said shaking her head "Okaaay." I kissed her one last time and let her go. I got in the car and we headed back to the highway.

"How much longer?" I asked "18 hours, get comfy" "You wanna take turns driving? You've already drove 4 hours." "Maybe later, I like driving" "Lemme know when you wanna switch then." I reached over and grabbed her hand and she played with my rings. I watched her drive for a few minutes admiring her facial features and how she would scrunch her nose when someone did something stupid. She had pulled her left knee up to her chest and kept her right foot on the pedals, thank God. Every now and then a few strands of her blue streaked hair would fall into her face and she would blow it away. She was the definition of beautiful, she didn't even have to try. I was truly the luckiest man alive. "You can take a nap if you want" she said looking at me for a second before looking back at the road "I'm okay" I said drawing small circles on the back of her hand with my thumb "You sure?" "Promise." I looked out the window watching the cars drive by and looking at all the road signs. I counted down the exit and mile signs until we finally took our exit and got on another highway. 18 hours can't be that bad.

"colbyyy wake up" I heard y/n say quietly. "What time is it? How much longer?" "It's 10 o'clock, I stopped and got us some food" "12 more hours to go. Thanks" "You wanna switch for a little while? You can use the GPS, I'm tired and there's a rest stop coming up soon" "Yea there it is." She pulled into one of the parking spots and we ate our food before switching spots. She leaned the seat back a little and put her feet on the dash board. "I like your socks" I said grabbing her hand "Thanks, I got them as a prank gift one year but I think the rubber ducks were funny" she laughed. "Here's the GPS" "Thanks." She closed her eyes and I started driving. I turned on my playlist and concentrated on the road. After about an hour y/n sounded like she was having a bad dream, we were stopped in traffic so I leaned over and kissed her forehead "hey it's ok baby girl, im here" I said quietly. She opened her eyes to find mine and smiled a sleepy smile. I couldn't help but grin back. "You okay?" "Bad dream, I'm better now" she said still smiling. For the rest of the drive she played with my rings while humming to the radio and looked out the window. I knew what we we're gunna do when we got there but I wanted to let her rest first. There was a carnival in town, then I would sneak us up a roof and we would have a picnic and watch the stars. I didn't wanna keep her couped up all the time.

"10 minutes!!!" I said sleepily but excited. She looked over at me and grinned "Thank you" she said "What for?" "Driving the rest of the way" "Of course, you we're tired and I had my nap" I replied smiling back at her. "Our date isn't until later, you wanna stay in and take a nap or go explore?" I asked. "Take a nap, then I need a shower. If we wake up a few hours before our date we can look around?" "I'm down." I found the hotel and pulled in. "Indoor pool" she said excitedly "After our date?" she just nodded while staring at the building. It reminded me of an old fashioned french style building, it was beautiful. I parked and grabbed our bags while y/n stretched. We got the key and found our room, I dropped the bags and y/n was already climbing in a bed. We didn't even bother to look around. She cuddled up into my side and I kissed her before drifting off.
