Kevin reached the building first. I sighed with relief as we reached it successfully, but I knew I couldn’t speak too soon. None of us knew what was on the other side and a soldier could be there waiting for us. Kevin opened the door, checking the corridor before waving us into the building. Zack, Nelly and I quickly entered before the soldiers on the field could see us.

We walked quietly down the corridor, keeping a look out for the other soldiers. We found most of them in the teacher’s staffroom. We sneak pass it, hoping no one would walk out. The sickbay was near the office.

Just as we turned the corner that led to the sickbay room, we had stopped. A soldier was standing outside the room. Thankfully he had his back to us and didn’t see us. We hid ourselves around the wall, trying to think what to do.

“Okay, how are we going to do this without notifying other soldiers that we are here?” I whispered. “If this guy fires his gun at us, the others are going to come running once they hear the gun shots.”

“I think I have an idea,” Nelly whispered.

“Let’s hear it,” Kevin replied.

“Okay, his back is to us so I was thinking that maybe I could sneak up and jump onto his back, cover his mouth to prevent him from screaming and grab his gun. And then you can come up behind me with the knife.”

I played the scene out in my head. I wasn’t sure whether or not if it would but I guess there’s no harm in trying out. I couldn’t think of anything else to do.

Kevin shook his head. “No. I’m not letting you run out there. Let me go first.”

“And what are you going to do if you go first? Stab him and let him make a noise to let the other soldiers know that we are here?”

Kevin opened his mouth to speak, but I stopped him, afraid the two of them getting into an argument that was going to give us away. Right now all I wanted was to get into the sickbay and treat Zack, hoping his injuries aren’t too bad. “Guys, let’s just give Nelly’s idea ago.”

Nelly gave Kevin a proud smile. She walked around the corner. We peeked around the corner, watching Nelly closely. The soldier didn’t even notice that she was behind him. I held my breath as I watched her. I almost stopped breathing when the soldier was about to turn, but Nelly jumped onto his back before he could turn. She covered his mouth to stop him from screaming. Using her other arm, she wrapped it around his neck, choking him. After a few seconds the soldier collapsed onto the floor. Nelly jumped off him.

We walked over to her, surprise to see what she had done. I have never seen her do that before.

“Wow,” was all I could say.

“Where did you learn to do that?” Kevin wanted to know. I snuck a glance at him. He didn’t seem really please that he didn’t get his chance to bring the soldier down and that Nelly had brought him down without his help.

“I took karate a couple of years ago, although I have never actually use any moves on anyone before,” Nelly answered.

“Okay, let’s hide this guy before someone sees us,” I told them both.

Zack and Kevin grabbed the guy’s arms and then dragged him into the sickbay with us. I was a little worried that he may wake up, but we didn’t know where else to put him without the other soldiers getting suspicious if they find one of their men unconscious. I closed the door behind us.

“Okay, get the stuff you need so we can get out of here,” Kevin told me.

I nodded. I told Zack to lie down on one of the beds while I searched for the medical supplies that I needed. Kevin kept a look out for the other soldiers through the small window in the door while Nelly made sure that the soldier wasn’t going to wake up.
