She watched him from across the campfire, as he spoke to the new lost boys. He always made them feel welcomed before training begun.

Y/n wasn't anyone special. She didn't have any powers, she wasn't good at fighting, she often tripped over her own feet, yet Pan kept her safe.

Pan was protective of the girl he often called an idiot, a name only he could call her.

She felt weak around the lost boys, some even teasing her about it, though Felix always put an end to it. Felix, Pan's right hand was also protective if the girl. He was quick to defend the girl, though never with words, always with actions.

Pan's eyes flickered over to the girl, a small smirk on his face. She often wondered what the boy was thinking, though quickly realised it was none of her business. A person's thoughts should be theirs and theirs alone.

"Get some rest" Felix's voice spoke from next to the girl. "We have a busy day tomorrow."

"Of course" y/n said, smiling at the boy. "Goodnight Felix, I hope your dreams are ever pleasant."

Felix watched, a small smile on his face as the girl entered her tent. He thought of only one thing. Pan was right about her.

Just like she did every morning, y/n was cleaning the mess from the campfire. Pan rarely used his magic for unnecessary purposes, cleaning should be done by hand.

Once y/n finished cleaning, she started to retrieve firewood. It was her daily routine.

A loud, yet muffled gasp escaped her mouth as she felt a knife on her neck, the exact same time as a hand went over her mouth.

"Look what I found, Pan's little toy."

Y/n's eyes widened as she felt the pirate breathing down her neck. "Such a pretty thing, no wonder Pan keeps you around. Do you think he'll share?"

The girl tried to kick him, only to feel a sharp pain in her side. The pirate added pressure to the knife, while tutting. "Silly girl, I-"

Suddenly the pirate's grip disappeared and a loud bang was heard, shortly followed by another one.

Y/n turned around, only to see two pirates on the floor, both with arrows through their chests, right on their hearts. The lost boys.

Four Lost Boys ran over to her. "Mother, are you okay?"

"I'm fine. I-"

Y/n's eyes widened as she realised what the boys had called her. She wasn't sure if they made a mistake, or they meant to call her the word.

"What did you call me?"

"I called you mother" Owen said. "You are our mother" Danny added, the other two boys nodding their head in agreement.

Y/n shook her head. The boys couldn't think of her that way, Pan wouldn't approve. A mother was a grown up and grown ups were forbidden in Neverland.

"But you are our mother" Danny told her. "Why else would Pan protect you? Why else would Pan favour you? You are our mother, as he is our father."

Owen nodded his head, as did the other lost boys. "You clean up after us, tell us stories, at least when Pan's not around. You make sure we have a blanket if we fall asleep outside."
