Marie and I entered the church as Fredrick and Nathan went to the bank. "Father McCoy." Father came out of the study room where all his Bibles and papers laid. He prepared his homily in there.

"Oh Marie, Cynthia, what a pleasant surprise what can I do for you today?"

"I came to ask a favor from you if you don't mind."

"Sure thing what is it?"

"Are you free after Mass on Sunday morning?"

"Yes I believe so." Father McKoy said giving us a puzzle look. I gave one last glance at Marie before continuing.

"I was wondering if you could marry Fredrick and I. I know it's a bit sudden but he leaves Monday to start searching for land in Iowa so we can move. I want to be married before he leaves because even when he's miles away I want to feel like I'm with him and he's with me. When he looks at the rings I want him to work faster and harder because he can't wait to see me. I love him and I can't wait to marry him. I hope that made sense and I wasn't rambling." Father McCoy smiled at me

"Of course Cynthia I will! I was able to watch you and Fredrick grow up and I got to watch the bond between you two grow. Is your family fell Fredrick invited you in and I saw the bone grow stronger. He became your family and come Sunday God will bless you too and forge the path ahead for years to come." I smiled tears threatening to fall

"Thank you Father. "I praised while hugging him. Marie spoke next.

"Yes thank you so much Father we have one more favor to ask of you. Since this is a surprise for Fredrick it would be too obvious if Cynthia wore her wedding dress so we were hoping we could hide it in your studying during the final song we could sneak out and get her changed and ready."

"I don't see why not."

"Thanks again father, we'll see you Sunday morning. I'll have the dress inside a picnic basket on your desk most likely by Saturday night." He nodded

"Sounds good have a wonderful day and may God be with you." With that he went back into his study smiling.

"That went well. I can't believe come Sunday you'll be my daughter-in-law."

"Neither can I. After everything had been going so wrong in my life I never expected for something like this. Something that would give me hope and meaning to go on."
