Kriey shrugged her shoulders and wiped down the counter. She heard Suzie suck the remaining of her drink’s content down and toss it into the nearest trash, unsuccessfully. Kriey immediately gave her the evil eye and didn’t look back down until Suzie made sure it was in. She smiled and returned to her seat. She ordered another hot chocolate but Kriey refused to give it to her. She nodded her head no and dared Suzie to retaliate against her. Suzie sat in her seat and watched as Kriey grabbed a newspaper and went behind the counter.

“I’m reading the newspaper.” Kriey shrugged her shoulders and started flipping through it. “It’s not that bad.” She looked up once in a while but barely cared who came in. It was main group of teens that didn’t order anything but only came for free wi-fi. “Do you think Crystal and Joy will become friends again?”

“Yeah.”

“How about you and Miranda?”

“Eventually.” Suzie shrugged her shoulders when Kriey looked back up at her. “Honestly, I’m just waiting for Crystal and Joy to get back together.”

“They’ve been distant with everyone though.” Kriey filled a pot of coffee up and gave Suzie an extra small hot chocolate. “Miranda hasn’t talked to Crystal in a few days and ever since Joy abandoned us at the movie theater, she hasn’t talked to anyone. Not even Avril.”

“Everyone needs their personal space,” Suzie noted. “Plus, I’m pretty sure Joy left with Jeremy.” Suzie smiled and instantly went for her phone. She texted really quick and looked up to see Kriey’s confused face.

“Why are you smiling? I thought you wanted him for yourself.”

“I do but it’s nice that Joy is showing signs that she’s a girl.”

“She’s a tomboy. She doesn’t like makeup, hates wearing skirts, and prefers to get dirty than take a shower. It’s unusual for her and she’ll tell us when she’s ready.”

“Tell us what?”

“That Joy is most likely dating him.”

“Do you want to do anything Saturday?” Crystal asked. She looked around the room again and looked at her debate topics. She wasn’t actually doing them and nobody was there besides her and Jeremy. Everyone was still planning for prom. Jeremy barely nodded before writing something in the pro side of why cell phones should be allowed in school. “How about bowling?” She wrote something in the con side and they both smiled at each other.

“Sure.”

“Did you tell Leah yet?” He wrote something in the con section and Crystal slumped. “Why didn’t you tell her yet?” Crystal took the piece of paper away when he tried to write on it again.

“I’ve been busy lately.” He shrugged his shoulders and looked around the room. “I had to cancel our last debate session because there weren’t enough people.”

“You can’t be that busy. I don’t see you hang out with anyone at school and I don’t think you have any hobbies besides debate.” Crystal put an innocent smile on her face when Jeremy looked up. She’s been a little harsh and clingy since the movie date night and Jeremy knew it. “Well, do you mind if I tell her?”

“Yes!” Jeremy jumped up and pressed Crystal’s palms on the desk, hard. “Leah will take it better from me than from you.”

“You’re her brother but I used to be her best friend.” Crystal looked in the distance and seemed far away. “We have a lot of baggage and secrets together.”

“Like?” Jeremy hoped that Crystal would tell her but when her face-hardened, he backed down. “I just want to do it. Please?” Jeremy made a cute smile towards her and nuzzled his nose in her neck.
