“Why can’t I get my own room, though?” Suzie asked. She knew for a fact that three rooms were not being used at the time. “If I’m ever mad at you, I would like to slam my door without you coming in too.” Miranda shrugged her shoulders and watched Suzie unpack her clothes.
“You know, it’s good to have you back.” She took a bite of her apple and watched as she neatly folded her clothes. “But there’s still going to be tension.”
“Of course there is. I didn’t even want to come over yet.” Suzie shrugged her shoulders and threw a pair of shorts in her dresser. “Joy threw me out.”
“Really reassuring Suzie.”
“Well, she and Crystal helped me pack. I guess they’re friends again.” Suzie sat on her bed quickly and thought hard and long. “But I think something happened between them. They didn’t seem like they were going to be friends again when we all went over Joy’s house.”
“They’ll tell us in time,” Miranda said. Miranda sat on her bed and looked at Suzie hard. “Do you still like Jeremy?” She tried to keep it subtle but there was no way to do that. “I don’t but I’m just wondering.
“No. Listen I have to go back to Joy’s and get the rest of my stuff. I’ll be back in a little.” Suzie instantly grabbed her small hoodie and headed out, flipping the hood over her hair.
Once Miranda heard Kriey’s car pull away, she went for her laptop. She looked both ways before she logged onto her account. She quickly waved at the figure and smiled brightly.
"I just got a no from Suzie.” Miranda smiled and looked at his face. He looked bewildered but that only happened for a minute. “So, I got a no from all of my friends. No baggage.”
“You sure?” Jeremy wanted to specifically know if Crystal and Joy told anybody about how he cheated on them. “There isn’t anything anybody mentioned to you, is there?”
“No. Why, should there be?”
"Nah. Just wanted to make sure.” He smiled his perfect smile and flipped his hair. “So you want to come over?”
“Is Leah there?”
“Nope.”
“I’ll be over in a minute.”
“Can’t wait…” Jeremy paused for dramatic effect and watched Miranda put her shoes on. “Girlfriend.”
“Bye boyfriend.”

“So I’m thinking about signing up for softball,” Suzie told Kriey. Kriey barely blinked before she turned the radio down and tried to hear her for the third time. “I want to sign up for softball.”“Suzie…” Kriey smiled a little but it pained her inside. “There is no softball team.” Suzie’s face-hardened and turned red. Apparently, this was the first time Suzie heard of this. “They needed to make budget cuts.” Kriey cracked her knuckles on the steering wheel and looked over quickly. “Of course, they keep the boys team.”
“So, I’ll try out for the boys team.” Suzie shrugged her shoulders when Kriey gave her a face but she didn’t seem to mind it. Suzie wasn’t very good with softball and there were a lot of boys who didn’t make the cut. Suzie probably wouldn’t make it. “I’ve been training for a while and it’ll be nice to have someone else that I know there.”
“I’m not going.” Suzie looked over with astonishment but Kriey didn’t move. “I have to work.”
“You’re always working.”
“You’re always not.” Kriey smiled a bit but her hands became very tight. “I can’t help it.”
Suzie unbuckled her seatbelt and stood up. She watched Kriey get out of the car and she joined her. Joy smiled at her and gave the last box to her. She watched as Suzie slammed it in the trunk and waved goodbye. Kriey stuck her tongue out and drove away.
