“She’s not answering my calls either,” Joy replied. She took a sip of her coffee and looked at Crystal. “Do you think she’s ignoring all of us?”

“For Suzie’s mistake?” Crystal asked.

“No…” Joy thought for a moment and nodded her head. “For letting her sleep over my house.”

Kriey rolled her eyes quickly and went back to the counter. She loved hearing the group’s gossip but there was way too much any more. None of them liked boys in tenth grade, except Joy, but now they all magically got sprinkled on by the boy crazed fairy. She knew that they would be more mature about in twelve grade but she didn’t want to wait that long.

“Just let the whole thing boil over,” Kriey said. She instantly turned her back to get the coffee but they all knew that she was hiding from them. Crystal and Joy instantly made a face but they didn’t confront her.

“You went through this phase too, Kriey. Yours was earlier though.” When Kriey turned back, she wasn’t smiling and she had a dead serious face on.

“I didn’t fight with my best friends about boys. We knew whether to let someone go or let the best friend have them.”

“And that’s why you got Sander?” Crystal asked. Kriey turned around and instantly motioned for her coworker to take her place.

“Sander and I aren’t dating.”

“You were.” Joy smirked and watched Kriey’s reaction as she tried to get out of that. “That’s why you clung onto Miranda and Suzie, right? Because your other best friends let you have Sander.”

Kriey tried to explain everything but she knew she couldn’t. She knew that Joy and Crystal were right. She did fight with her friends over Sander and she had been victorious. Unfortunately, winning Sander meant she lost her friends.

When she finally let Sander go, her friends wouldn’t take her back no matter what she did. She realized than that a boy wasn’t worth fighting over and she broke up with him. The feelings remained between them but they didn’t officially go out anymore.

“Uh, guys,” Crystal replied. She pointed towards the door and when the bell on the door chimed, they all looked. Joy’s mouth fell open and Kriey sat down in the booth. “I think we know why Miranda’s been ignoring us.”

When Miranda noticed the three at the booth, she looked like she wanted to say hi. She looked like she wanted to engage in a conversation with them, but Leah elbowed her in the gut. Her face was rock-hard and she sucked her cheeks in. She pointed to the booth farthest away from them and they fled towards there.

Miranda was hanging with Leah, Sheila, and Darla. That meant she was in the popular group. Either this was for Suzie’s revenge or it was because Miranda finally cracked from Leah asking so much.

None of the three spoke but when they were about to, they saw Jeremy walk through. He waved toward Miranda and when she waved back, it was flirtatious. He quickly grabbed her hand and leaned in for a kiss.

Anybody in the room could hear Leah’s disgusted grunt but she didn’t speak of it out loud. Instead they started gabbing away about regular drama.

“They went public.” Crystal’s statement stung herself and Joy. “But… what about Suzie?” she quickly asked. She didn’t want to think about Jeremy not wanting to go public with her or Joy.

“Suzie won’t believe it,” Kriey said. When Joy and Crystal turned their heads back to her, she shrugged and drank some of their drinks. “She officially fell head over heels for him and since she and Miranda are in a fight, she’ll think that it’s Photoshop or that Leah’s making them do it.” Kriey shrugged her shoulders. “Besides, I barely doubt they would give up that for each other.”
