Joy sat down sheepishly and squished Suzie in so that John could fit too. Kriey instantly got up and brought another chair over so it wasn’t so crowded. The thing that astonished all of them was that Joy was holding John’s hand. It was no secret that they would probably date each other, but Joy wasn’t a fan of PDA.
“So, are you two..?” Joy and John both nodded their heads and almost all of the girls started to swoon. Joy immediately began to blush and John began to feel uncomfortable. “Would you guys stop being so shy about it? You’re making it feel like it’s wrong to be in a relationship.”
"It is when it’s possible that he’s my rebound.” John smiled slightly and Joy side glanced at him. “Once you get into love, it’s totally hard to stop.” She shrugged her shoulders at everyone and they were all astonished that she could say what she wanted and he was fine with it. “You guys will probably be rebounding too. Does anyone else have a crush?” Joy looked at Crystal. “You have Lenny. That’s a possible rebound.” Joy turned to Miranda but quickly surpassed her. “Suzie has Nino and Kriey has Sander.”
“Kriey knew Sander before Jeremy.” Crystal munched on her mint and swallowed. “And she was never really dating him.” She shrugged her shoulders and looked down at her phone “Speaking of Lenny, can Faith come down here?” Everyone looked confused as to why she needed their permission, but they all nodded anyways.
“You like Lenny?” John asked. Crystal immediately turned red and barely nodded her head. “I get it. You’re not very open about it.” John nstantly turned to Suzie and her body slid down the chair. “Do you mind if I set up a date with you and Nino? I know you like him and it’ll be better for all of us if I just get the flirty stuff out of the way.” Suzie enthusiastically nodded yes and had a huge smile on her face. “Heads up for all of you, I have a sister so I’m very open about girl stuff.”
“I’m just curious…” Everyone turned their heads to Kriey and she looked deeply into John. “How did you guys find out you both liked each other?”
“I’ll tell it.” Joy paused for dramatic effect and continued on. “He put lipstick on his lips and, long story, when we were leaving class, he still had some on. I told him about it but he wasn’t getting the exact spot. I, being the oh-so-amazing person I am, got a napkin and wiped it off. When I looked back up, he kissed me.”
“Oh my god!” Avril yelled. She smiled brightly and waited for everyone to look at her. “That is exactly like the movies. Only usually the girl is wearing the lipstick.”
“You guys are so corny.” Joy snorted at them and everyone began to go completely quiet. When Faith finally arrived, she brought a whole new topic to the table. “Faith, does Lenny like Crystal?”
Faith nodded her head but she looked iffy. “I think so but he would never admit it. Just like Crystal doesn’t admit that she likes Lenny.” Faith watched, as Crystal grew uncomfortable and wanted to leave the table. “It’s like all of us. None of us want to admit we like each other until we’re certain the other does. The only reason you and John are open about it now, is because you’re somewhat certain.” Joy retracted her face a little and realized that Faith did sound like the peacemaker of the group.
“I have to go.” Crystal immediately got up from her seat before anybody else could talk to her about Lenny. “Not only because I don’t want to hear anything else, but also because I have to get home before my mom checks the mail for my report card.” Crystal waved to them all but nobody started chatting again until they saw her car pull away. She just recently took her test again because she had gotten her license taken away. She wouldn’t talk about why but everyone had suspicions.
“We seriously need to hook them up,” Miranda announced. Everyone that agreed nodded their heads and the only person to not was John. “This is girl talk John. If you don’t agree, you could leave.” Miranda looked at Joy to see if she was mad but Joy just got up and waited for John to scoot. She sighed and realized that Joy wasn’t going to forget her friends just because she was dating.
