"Let me get this straight," said Remus, his eyes wide with disbelief as he listened to James' tale. His head was in his hands, fingers skimming through his light brown hair and hazel eyes clouded with confusion. Sirius was sitting next to him, completely amused by what James said and laughing every time James mentioned something funny and sarcastic that Sapphire had said. "I don't... You can't be serious..."
"Believe me, Moony," said James, a cocky smirk overpowering his features. He looked completely comfortable laying back on his bed with his arms under his head, his glasses falling over his hazel eyes, James Potter was in all his glory and charm, not that he normally wasn't. "Sapphire Gerard is now putty in my hands. You should've seen her when I walked her up to her room; I never thought it was humanly possible to blush that hard."
Sirius let out a laugh, only adding to James' ego, while Remus shook his head in a disappointed way. "I would've never believed that you would do something like that, James. Honestly, I would expect it to be Sirius, but not you." Sirius looked offended and clearly displayed it by yelling out hey. "Be real for once, Sirius."
"One good thing about what I'm doing is that I can get both the benefits of being with Lily and becoming friends with Sapphire."
"Do you honestly believe that Sapphire would want to be friends with you after you go for Lily? And even more bizarrely, do you actually think Lily would want to be with you after you break her cousin's heart?"
James opened his mouth to come out with a reply but instead, he stayed silent. He did not think of that. Surely, Sapphire wouldn't be too mad at him would she? And Lily, Merlin, she couldn't possibly hate James more now that he's friends with Sapphire, could she? James' heart dropped to his stomach at the mere fact that Lily could loathe him more than she already does. But strangely enough, he seemed more hurt at the thought that Sapphire would hate him. He didn't know why, he was only friends with her. The girl was awesome to be around, she was very funny, smart, not to mention gorgeous... no, no, James liked Lily, perhaps he even loved the redhead, there was no way he's getting soft with Sapphire. There's no way he's getting feelings for the person whose heart he's about to destroy. No way.

"What in hell are you doing?"
Sapphire jumped up, surprise clear on her face. She was currently sitting on one of the sofas in front of the fire in the Gryffindor Common Room, minding her own business with a book on her lap. Her hair was carelessly thrown in a ponytail she was snuggled up in a blanket and was wearing her round glasses, something she would never wear normally.
"Just reading," said Sapphire, brushing loose strands of hair out of her face and laying her head back, not looking at anyone. Alice looked at her suspiciously but took her answer sitting down next to her.
"What's on your mind, Sapph?" asked Alice, cuddling up with her own sweater sleeves. Sapphire managed to look at her, her dark eyes widening as she gasped.
"Your..you..I...," Sapphire spluttered, looking at Alice's new haircut. Alice had turned her light brown hair black and she now had bangs.
