Leaves were rustling and falling into her hair as Sapphire sat on a tree branch, her legs hanging off of the edge watching as her shoelaces hit the side of her leg to the harmony of the wind. She looked down at the ground, where Severus was leaning his back against the tree throwing an apple up and catching, a blank expression adorning his usually stony face. Sighing, although the sound was unheard because of the great whistling of the literary zephyr. Sapphire hit the trunk with the back of her boots, awakening Severus from his daze. He looked up, black eyes piercing into hers with an edge. and raised an eyebrow.

"What now?" she asked, her fingers tapping against the material of her pants in suspense. Her frustration only grew as Severus shrugged his shoulders and attempted to turn around. Groaning, she hit the trunk again. "Are you seriously going to give me the silent treatment? Is that the price I have to pay for happiness, Severus?"

Sapphire's heart sunk low in her stomach as he stood up, tall frame, and back towards her. He slowly faced her and laughed humorlessly, closing her flying cloak around him. Silence enveloped them and he licked his lips, slightly shaking his head, and uttered the sentence that nearly killed her. "I thought you were different."

Severus bent down to pick his bag up, leaving her watching him with horrible amazement before she snapped out of it almost face planting the ground at her descent from the tree Struggling to catch up to him Sapphire blew out a large breath before yelling. "What the fuck is that supposed to mean?"

Like the flick of a switch, Severus turned around, eyes ablaze, fire seemingly dancing in his irises, and she expected him to explode like she was about to. "I thought you were serious that you weren't just messing around. It's crazy, isn't it? I thought you weren't like Potter and his gang, but turns out you're just like them. And you know what the craziest part of all of this is? I thought you were my friend."

"Sev, I am your friend." He watched her face crumble, color rushing to her cheeks and her nose a dotted red, wild hair in flight, but he stood towering over her petite body, jaw clenched so hard.

"No, no, you're not. I was stupid and I thought you gave a shit. But I should've realized, I shouldn't have been so bloody blind. It was so obvious, but I should've realized that you're so malicious. You manipulated Potter so easily, yet I didn't notice you doing the same to me. I was so convinced that you were some sort of miracle, some sort of saving grace but you just played me like you played Potter and his goons, like you played Lily and your so-called friends. You're no better than any of them," Severus spat, the muscles in his jaw flexing pale skin and eyes alight and alert.

"Oh my fucking- you've got to be kidding me! For God's sake, Snape, what else do you want from me? Do you want me to bend over backward and sing you songs, because, shit, you'd love that, wouldn't you? I did what you asked me to do; I broke James Potter's heart as you asked. I pretended to like him in the beginning, as you asked. And yes, maybe I let it get too personal ."

"Maybe? Maybe? You bloody slept with him, you're going out with him, and you think that maybe you let it get personal? What the actual fuck. Sapphire?" He threw his arms in the air, giving her the worst glare she could've got.

Her chest tightened, feeling a burning blush crawl up her neck to her ears. His words, sharp and strong, reverberated on her heart, replaying in her mind until the only thing she could hear was him yelling at her. When he noticed she wasn't going to reply, he shot her one last glare and turned around, his cloak flying in black liquid- seeming waves. Sapphire couldn't hear the wind or the trees rustling, the only thing she could hear was her heart breaking into pieces.

The day was turning out to be the worst twenty-four hours of her life. In such a short time, everything was falling around her so fast James was getting closer to Lily again, and they haven't even been dating for so long. Luke was messing with her brain by sending her those letters, and Severus was being a bipolar asshole Sapphire's hands shook and a sob caught in her throat, she clutched her arms around herself, bottom lip trembling The pads of her feet hit strongly against the ground as she walked rapidly away from the Black Lake, the coast completely clear as no student in their right mind would go out in such weather. A bitter laugh left her as she thought of how everything around her felt blurry, shaken up, and unstable. Her hands, held tightly into fists, were starting to freeze the effect of hundreds of tiny knives going through the skin, and the fresh trails of tears going down her cheeks weren't helping either.
