"YOU two almost kissed?" chan yelled at me when i told him about the incident. i quickly hushed him and looked around, even though i know no one in the restaurant would bother to listen to our conversation. plus, even if someone bothered to, no one would know who 'you' is.

it was the morning after i almost kissed jun. i took the morning off to one, take some time off and two, to actually catch up with chan. ever since i got the internship, i wasn't home as often as i wanted to, and therefore, i don't talk to chan as much. it hurts me, really, but the internship is a necessity, so.

"you fucker. yes, now stop yelling like i just lost my fucking virginity." i snarled at him. chan laughed and looked at me, all serious all of a sudden, "you're not joking, right?"

i frowned, confused as to what he meant. but then i understood and i widened my eyes, reaching over the table to smack him on the head, "my god! you're so dirty-minded!"

"may i take your order?" the waiter asked, and i looked up, eyes widening when i saw who it is.

"jungkook? what are you doing here?" i exclaimed, standing up to throw my arms around him. jungkook chuckled and wrapped his arms around my shoulders.

"jungkook, this is my roommate, lee chan. chan, this is one of my high school best friends, jeon jungkook." i introduced them and the two greeted each other.

"joon hyung! i'm off!" jungkook yelled at a man that seems older than both of us. the man was about to protest, but jungkook already took the seat next to me, making the man speechless.

jungkook made himself comfortable in his seat before explaining, "well, i took a summer job here with my boyfriend, jimin. jimin's two years older than the two of us, and he works part-time here throughout the entire year. i just wanted to join him for the summer before he starts working full time somewhere else. i don't know if i'm going to follow him or what."

i looked at him, frowning, "point your boyfriend out for me, will ya?"

jungkook nodded and pointed at a blonde-haired boy who was smiling at one of the customers. he seems really lovely and friendly, his smile reaching up to his eyes, making his eyes disappear into mini crescent moons.

"min!" jungkook yelled and jimin — at least i think he's jimin — came over with the same smile on his face.

"hey, kook. is there a reason why you're not working?" jimin asked, looking down at jungkook. he raised his head and saw chan and i, his expression changed from stern to surprised immediately, "o-oh! i didn't see you two here. i assume one of you is kook's friend?"

"that would be me." i said, standing up to greet him, "hello, i'm su myungho. i was one of jungkook's many friends in high school." i said, emphasising 'many friends' and teasing jungkook with my tone. jungkook chuckled, saying, "you're exaggerating!"

jimin raised one of his eyebrows, "is that so? well, you must excuse me for my rudeness just now. hello, myungho ssi. and you are—"

"i'm lee chan. 'm just myungho hyung's roommate." chan introduced himself. jimin hummed and sat down next to chan, "so, tell me about you two, myungho ssi and chan ssi."

from what i learnt, jimin and jungkook met in this very cafe and started dating after a few months. they're in the same university now where jimin majors in performance arts and minors in korean and art. jungkook, on the other hand, majors in art and minors in photography and performance art. jimin is leaving university next year and jungkook will hopefully join whatever jimin is persuing afterwards.

"well, it was nice meeting you again, minghao. i think joon hyung is going to get mad at me if i don't get to work. if we both don't get back to work." jimin said, glaring at jungkook, who just chuckled lightly. the four of us exchanged numbers and created a group chat so we could contact each other no matter when and for whatever business.

chan and i left the cafe not long later and we went on for a little walk around the neighbourhood. it's honestly funny how jungkook and i never bumped into each other considering the cafe he's working in is one i go pretty often.

"hey, hyung?" chan suddenly asked. i stopped and turned around to face the younger, "yeah?"

"can we, uh, can we talk?" chan asked, fiddling with the hem of his shirt. i nodded, leading the two of us to a nearby park and sat on one of the benches, chan sitting next to me.

"it honestly has nothing to do with me. and tell me if i'm overstepping any boundary. i just wanted you to be honest with yourself. what are your feelings towards jun hyung?" chan questioned once we sat down. i felt myself sit up straighter at the mention of jun's name, then i frowned.

"well, that's the thing, chan. i don't really know..." i trailed off.

"it's alright to not know now," chan said, facing me, "just know when the time comes. i can tell you like him a lot, hyung. i know you two might not have known each other for a long time, but i can tell you like him a lot. so take your shot, hyung. take your shot before you lose him. do not make yourself regret not doing anything as i did." he responded, looking me dead in the eyes, "tell him you like him before it's too late."

i searched in his eyes for any type of mockery or joking tone, but i couldn't anything but genuine feelings. i smiled, "i will. don't you worry, chan."

"promise me, hyung. promise me you'll tell him you love him."

love? how did like turn into love so suddenly? however, when i look into it more deeply, i understand why chan changed his wording. maybe i do love him. it's been a while since i last loved someone — the last person being wonwoo  — and i haven't felt this feeling since a long time. maybe it is love. i don't know, i just know i like jun a lot. maybe it is love.

"i promise you."
