Ellen takes another sip of her coffee and then continues serious-faced, "I'm not happy about you leaving so soon." Dean smiles, his bag heavy in his hand.

"Trust me I'm not happy about it either, I'm already missing your home cooking. I don't think I've got much chance of getting a decent meal between Bobby and the angel." Ellen grins at him, nudging her foot against his own. Even if they could, they never would've been able to stay here longer than a couple of days, not without putting both Ellen and Jo at risk.

Castiel's going to start training him the moment they get back to Bobby's and the thought alone has his grace thrumming beneath his skin. The moment he woke up Bobby had frowned at him and Dean knows why. The grace is at full power today his skin is glowing, his teeth a little whiter and his hair a bit fluffier.

He made sure to force a baseball hat onto his head after getting whistled at in the parking lot.

Bobby tuts as he walks over to them, pulling his jacket on. "We better get going, it's gonna be a long drive." Ellen laughs, rolling her eyes.

"Age catching up to you, Singer?" Bobby scoffs, even as he rolls his shoulders, his back aching from the previous drive.

"I should've taught this one to drive, save me the trouble." He gestures to Dean and nudges him teasingly. Dean rolls his eyes.

"When you got the time spare just let me know." He walks over to Jo before Bobby can respond and leaves Ellen and Bobby to say their goodbyes.

"Hey, kiddo." Jo glances up at him, her mouth twitching upwards. She places the rag in her hand onto the bar and her arms cross over her chest.

"Leaving so soon?"

Dean smirks. "I didn't know you were so prepared to fight for me?" Jo rolls her eyes affectionately before her mouth falls into a frown.

"I think we're all prepared to. At least if you were here we'd know you're okay." The silence is deafening and Dean glances away unable to hold the concerned gaze directed at him.

He watches as Bobby and Ellen smile at each other and when Bobby leans in to kiss Ellen on the cheek he drops his gaze to the floor. Dean sighs. "I'm going to be okay Jo. Cas is going to help me, I'm stronger than I look." It sounds false even to him and he tries to force an encouraging look onto his face. He's had an entire night trying to convince himself that he'll succeed and has the strength to go through with it. He can't tell whether Castiel's presence is more distracting when he's with him or when he's away.

Ellen and Bobby walk over to the two of them before Jo can respond and he doesn't try to push down the relief. "Okay you two, it's time to get out of here." Dean chances one more glance at Jo but her gaze is directed away from him. His eyes move to Ellen and his fists clench at his side. He hesitates on how to say goodbye, knowing he doesn't want to leave makes it even harder to work up the courage to walk away. And then suddenly Ellen is opening her arms and Dean practically falls into them, instinct taking over. He bathes in her warmth and soothing smell. The hug is like a soft blanket covering him and absorbing every ounce of worry and fear. Dean has been hugged since his mom died but not like this, he feels the same soothing feeling he used to get with his mom. Dean lets his body sag, his muscles become loose.

Ellen pulls him in tighter. Her entire being is comforting and he tries not to hug back too tight, with too much emotion. After a minute Dean forces himself to pull away but even once he's stepped back he can still feel the phantom touch of Ellens hand on his back. Dean can't bring himself to look at Ellen so instead, he adverts his eyes to the floor. Bobby ruffles Jo's hair before taking Dean's bag out of his hand.
