"Where did you get that?" Bobby growls, snatching the amulet from Castiels hand and clutching it against his chest. Castiel sighs, turning around to begin mixing ingredients.
"I didn't steal it if that's what you're asking." He holds his hand out for the amulet but Bobby keeps it. Castiel glances over his shoulder at Bobby and turns to face him. "After my... argument with Dean, I found it outside." Bobby grunts, unconvinced but still hands over the amulet.
"You're sure that'll work?"
Castiel crushes the herbs into a liquid and drops the amulet into the bowl. "Yes, I'm sure. Once the amulet is activated it will act as a beacon from God, the angels won't be able to resist the call and they'll have to seek it out."
"Won't that mean you'll be forced to find it as well?"
The angel nods with a frown. "Yes, but we'll already be there with holy oil to trap them. We'll have to do it as close to the hospital as possible so that we can get to Sam and Dean before my brothers and sisters escape."
"Hmm, sounds a little far fetched but it's the best we have." Following the guide Castiel drew for him, Bobby places candles in a star shape on the ground lighting each candle as he moves. The angel stirs the mixture watching as it changes colour from a muddy brown into a rich purple. Castiel places the bowl in the centre of the candles before stepping back.
"It will work," Castiel responds. "It's got to." Holding the necklace over the bowl Castiel looks to Bobby. "Once I drop it, don't move. If we break the barrier it could destroy every ward you have and it will act as a beacon to everyone." Bobby steps back and nods.
Castiel takes a deep breath before he drops the necklace into the bowl. The liquid stirs, some of it rising and splashing on the wooden floor. It bubbles and fizzes releasing the smell of sulphur before it lays still, shimmering in the black bowl. Castiel holds his hand in the air, closing his eyes as he begins to chant. Bobby barely has time to cover his eyes before a bring glow emerges from the bowl and throws him back against the wall.
...
Dean rolls his shoulders, trying to relax the muscles in his shoulders. He takes a deep breath before rubbing his hands together. "This might hurt a bit." Dean closes his eyes as he concentrates on redirecting his grace. The power makes his fingertips tingle as he steals electricity from the room around him, his hands flex and instantly he places them on Sams's chest. His grace leaves him in a solid wave and he barely has time to flinch back before Sam is throwing himself forward with a shout.
Sams's eyes dart around the room his chest rising and falling in quick pants before his eyes finally fall on Dean. Sams's eyebrows scrunch together a frown pulling his mouth down. "Dean? What-"
Dean throws himself forwards wrapping his arms around his brother and squeezing him with as much force as he can muster. He holds his breath and tries to imprint the memory into his mind. Sams hand slowly come up to pat Dean's back before squeezing him back. "Dean, what's going on?" He pulls back so he can look at him and a deeper frown pulls at his face. "Why do you look different?" He glances around the room. "And where's mom and dad?"
Dean falters unable to think of how to begin to answer any of those questions. It never occurred to him he'd have to be the one to tell Sam. Dean swallows as he tries to think of a response. "They-"
Flinching, Dean quickly stands up as a scream curls its way through the hallway and echoes into the room. It startles Dean back into reality and the reason why he came here in the first place. The angels are here he can feel their grace running through the building, searching for him. Their grace is like pinpricks against the edge of his own. His hand twitches at the intruding feeling.
