"Y/n, Crane, light the way."

Crane and I took our paper lanterns and took to the sky, hovering above all the evacuating villagers while we held onto them with our talons.

I looked down guiltily, if I fought Tai Lung myself, then they didn't have to go through all the trouble to evacuate.

I wish I could've been more brave, maybe I don't deserve to be the Phoenix Warrior.

I shook my head at my thoughts, it's no time to regret, Tai Lung may as well be here soon.

As we flew by, I noticed Po and Dad having a heart-to-heart conversation, which I could only imagine was about Dad telling Po about his new plan for the upcoming business.

A part of me nagged me to go to check up with Dad, but looking at Po, I think he could protect him. So with a tiny grain of reassurance, Crane and I continued to guide the villagers to safety.

I was thinking about how tragic and horrible my life is when a voice snapped me out of it.

"Uhhh, how's the weather?" Crane peeped from behind.

I rolled my eyes and the edge of my beak bent upwards a tiny little bit, "Having trouble with starting conversations aren't you?"

I stuck out my tongue and flew further away from him, not wanting to deal with him right now as I wanted to think again.

We were tailing the last few villagers that were evacuating, the breeze ruffled my feathers while I dipped down to meet the ground. Before I could think, my talons met the scathed soil that was trampled by wagons.

"Let's try our best to move quickly, Tai Lung will be here shortly." I hurried the villagers and they gained speed.

After that, Crane had also reached the ground, which I earned a look of worry from. I shook the uneasy feeling off of my feathers.

I nudged him to follow the villagers, he took the hint but stayed.

"Crane. They need you." I whispered.

His worried gaze met mine, "But, you'll be killed."

I nuzzled him in my grasp longingly.

Bang.

From the embrace that we were in moments ago, I turned my head to the Jade Palace, Master Shifu.

"I'm sorry."

And with that I took off, and headed straight for the palace. Crane's shouts for me had faded out, a part of me wanted to stay with him, but I couldn't
