today was the day for our class trip and we were all going camping. i know that carria doesn't really like this kind of events so she obviously went on vacation with her dad.

i was really excited to get to hang out with the boys and maybe julie and flynn.

as i was thinking about that, i heard my mom downstairs and she was making breakfast for my little sister. she was going to her friend's house for the weekend while i'm away as well.

i bet my mom's happy she doesn't have to worry about either of us. anyway, i grabbed all of my stuff and went downstairs.

"good morning honey,"she said and came over to kiss my cheek.

"good morning, mom,"i said and grabbed a piece of toast from a plate, smearing jelly on it.

"what are you guys going to be doing?"she asked.

"well i mean, camping stuff i guess,"i replied and she nodded.

"just have fun,"she said and i smiled.

"bring me back an acorn,"my little sister said i smiled wider.

"ok,"i said and i heard a bus honk.

"that's my cue, i love you guys,"i said and kissed my mom and sister goodbye.

as i was on the bus i had been talking to my friends and after a while we stopped of course. and i couldn't help but notice the brown-curly haired girl a few seats in front of me.

she was laughing and i mainly just stared at her most of the ride not realizing that a few people, including flynn, noticed.

she was smirking, looking at me and i instantly looked away, flushed from embarrassment. i just looked at the window, realizing we were almost there, seeing a sign with our camp name.

the bus finally came to a halt, the bus doors opening to reveal a gigantic camp and noticing all the other buses, kids piling out from their buses as well.

i kept looking around until i felt a familiar hand on my shoulder. my heart rate quickened.

"hey nick,"the voice said to me and i looked to see julie.

"hey julie,"i said and she looked at the camp but i just kept staring at her.

"this place is amazing,"she said and she turned around and i quickly looked away. thank goodness she didn't notice.

i made my way to my assigned cabin and i saw flynn unpacking, looking upset.

"hey, i guess we are bunkmates,"i said and she sighed.

"alright then,"she replied and i started to get concerned.

"what's wrong?"i asked.

"i don't get to be in the same cabin with jules,"she said and i nodded, understanding.

"it'll be ok, at least you have me,"i said and i think it cheered her up a little.

"oooh, did you know we are going to have a dance tomorrow?"she asked me and i looked at her confused.

"what dance?"i asked.

"i guess it's just a dance to welcome all of the newcomers,"she replied and i nodded.

"ok then, i'm going to settle myself in, see you later flynn,"i said and walked away to my bunk bed.

today was the dance and i had a plan to try and ask julie to be my date to the dance.

i had to find her cabin first though. i walked through multiple cabins and later on i ended up asking flynn.

i walk up to the cabin door and knock to see who must be one of julie's bunkmates.

"hello, i'm looking for a girl named julie,"i said and she nodded, pointing to the girl i've been looking for. i walked in and made my way to julie.

"oh hey nick,"she said and i smiled.

"hey julie,"i said.

"do you need something?"she asked.

"well yes, i actually came to ask you something,"i said and sat down next to her.

"what is it?"she asked.

"well i was wondering, if you'd like to be my date to the dance?"i asked looking down, blushing.

there was pure silence until i felt a hand on top of mine.

"i'd love to go with you,"she replied and kissed my cheek.

i pulled her into a hug and just kept her there until i decided to let go and she definitely didn't mind.
