You ready? Come on, the others are waiting for you!

You've been waiting for this day your entire life. You finally get to start your Pokémon journey! You're already so excited to see the world, and challenge all sorts of Gyms, and meet a whole bunch of new Pokémon!

But first, you have to wait for your friends Cheren and Bianca to get here. Both of them tend to take a while, Cheren stalling and stalling to make sure he doesn't forget anything and Bianca rushing but then forgetting literally everything and having to go back for it.

Your foot taps against the floor as you watch the neatly wrapped parcel on your desk.

After what feels like forty years, you hear your doorbell ring. You're about to throw yourself down the stairs so you can get it, but it sounds like your mom already beat you to it.

You hear your friends run up the stairs and burst into your room.

Cheren is a serious young man with short black hair and glasses, which he can barely see without.

Meanwhile Bianca's a super-cheerful girl with blonde hair and a big green beret.

They both seem like complete opposites, but you three are very close and have been friends since you were all babies.

"Are they here??" Bianca asks, panting.

"Really Bianca? I wanted to ask that!" Cheren says.

"They're right here!" You gesture to the parcel.

"Oooh! I can't wait!"

Cheren stops Bianca as she's about to pull the ribbon. "Hey, I'm just as excited as you, but Y/N should get to pick their starter first, since it was delivered to their house."

She lets out a little whine, but nods. "You're right, as usual." She turns to you, her usual bubbly demeanor returning. "Go on, pick your starter!"

The three of you crowd around your desk and slowly pull the green ribbon, revealing a transparent case with three Pokéballs inside. There's a little note in front of each Pokéball.

Tepig, the Fire Pig Pokémon.

Oshawott, the Sea Otter Pokémon.

Snivy, the Grass Snake Pokémon.

They all look so cute, how could you possibly choose one? It already looks like Cheren is doing all the calculating and theorizing about which starter would be best in what situations, while Bianca is just bouncing in place. She's probably got her ideal starter in mind.

Hopefully you don't accidentally take hers.

You take Snivy's Pokéball.

"Great!" Bianca chirps. "Then I'll take this one!"

"Hey! Who said you could choose next?" Cheren snaps. "Well whatever, I wanted Oshawott anyways." He takes the final Pokéball.

Alongside the Pokéballs, the case also contains three devices. They all slide open and have two screens, one displaying several apps and the other showing blank information slots.

"These must be the Pokédexes." Cheren picks one of them up. "After all, Professor Juniper wants us to go out and-"

"Y/N! Let's have a battle!" Bianca says, interrupting him.

"Bianca, I was in the middle of talking! And are you sure a battle in Y/N's room is the best idea?"

"Why not?" you say. "These guys are small, so they shouldn't do that much damage."

Cheren pushes his glasses up. "I guess you're right... Fine. I'll be the referee."

"Yay!" Bianca throws her Pokéball. "Goooooooo Tepig!"

You look down at your Pokéball. "We've got a type disadvantage but we'll still do our best! Let's go, Snivy!"

Snivy comes out of its Pokéball. It's a small green Pokémon with a leaf-like tail and a smug expression. "Vee!"

Meanwhile Tepig is a cheerful pig-like Pokémon. It snorts a little bit of smoke from its snout, its excitement and energy perfectly suiting its trainer.

You mainly have Snivy dodge Tepig's attacks, but let it go in to deal damage upon learning Tepig doesn't know any fire-type moves yet.

It's a close battle, but you and Snivy clutch your very first victory!

"All right!"

"Vee!" Snivy hops into the air and smacks your hand with its tail as some sort of high-five.

Bianca sinks down to the ground. "Man...we were so close." She gives Tepig some pats. "Oh well, we'll just have to train harder."

You get a little notification on your Pokédex.

Snivy learned Vine Whip!

Cheren clears his throat and adjusts his glasses. "It appears Y/N is the victor. However...we seem to have...a bit of a problem."

You look around your room. It's a total mess. Pictures are knocked down from the walls, your shelves are crooked, the blankets on your bed slid off and the remotes for your Wii are scattered across the room.

"Haha, sorry about that, Y/N," Bianca says, picking Tepig up.

Just as she says that, your mom comes up the stairs. "Hey kids, what was all the noise about-" She sees the condition your room is in. "Wow, who would have thought such little creatures could make such a mess."

"Sorry, miss L/N," your friends say together.

"Don't worry about it! I'll get this cleaned up in no time! Why don't you three go ahead and thank the Professor for giving you those cuties?"

So, the three of you head to Professor Juniper's lab.

Nuvema Town is pretty small, with only a few houses and the lab, so it doesn't take long to get there.

The Professor turns around when you walk in. "Hey you three! How are the starters?"

"They're great!" Bianca chirps. "I totally got the best one."

Cheren scoffs. "Don't be so sure. Oshawott and I are going to train super hard and be way stronger than all of you."

Juniper smiles, and hands each of you five Pokéballs and a map. "Here you are! Thanks for agreeing to help me with my field research."

While your friends chat with the Professor, you look around the lab. Snivy's perched on your shoulder, sleeping and enjoying the sun coming from a nearby window.

The lab is well organized, with shelves full of books and plants, and a slightly cluttered work desk in the corner. There are also several computers and machines you don't know the use for.

"Y/N, ready to go?"

You appear to have zoned out.

"Oh, sorry! What did you say?"

Cheren rolls his eyes. "We should go say goodbye to our families and stuff. See you guys in...ten minutes?"

"Knowing my dad it'll take longer," Bianca sighs.

The two of them leave the lab, with you not far behind.

A/N: I reeeeeally wanted to give you choice of starter I'm sorry it was just going to be so annoying writing (starter) and stuff and figuring out how the battles would work and i just
