You run as fast as you can, the limp Liepard breathing shallowly in your arms. You aren't really thinking clearly, or you would put her in her Pokéball. But now you're in shock, mildly in pain, and your partner has a high chance of dying right in your arms.

Just a little farther! You have to make it.

You look down at Liepard, and as you do, you run right into someone. You let out a choked-out "I'm sorry," and quickly try to go around the person.

"Y/N, are you alright?" a gentle voice asks, stopping you. "And what happened to Liepard?"

You look up and are filled with a light warmth, because it's N standing in front of you. You try to tell him what happened, but it all comes out as some sort of broken sob. "P-please...help Liepard."

N pulls you into a small forested area and sits you down on the grass. He gets you to set Liepard down as he digs through his pockets.

He pulls out a Revival Herb- a very bitter medicine- and a small packet of what looks like matcha powder. He crushes them down and mixes them together, adding just a little bit of water so it becomes a light green paste.

Then he carefully dots the paste onto Liepard's wounds, gently shushing her when she flinches.

"Rest now, my friend. You'll be alright."

"Thank you," you tell him, feeling like you might cry again. You notice there's still a little more of that paste left.

He smiles, then shyly points at you. "Will you show me your leg? You're hurt too, aren't you?"

You slowly nod and show him the big scrape on your knee. Due to the prior panic you didn't notice how much it hurt, but you let out a little whimper when the cool paste makes contact with the injury.

"I'm sorry. It'll sting a bit."

Once that's all taken care of, you sigh and lean back against a tree.

Liepard sleeps peacefully nearby, breathing at a much more normal pace.

"What happened?" N asks, sitting down beside you. "That couldn't have been any normal battle you were in."

You grit your teeth and start trembling, just thinking about that battle with Drayden.

Noticing your concern, he wraps an arm around you and lets you lean against him.

It's oddly comforting, feeling the heavy rise and fall of his chest under your head.

You sit like that for a few silent minutes, but it isn't stifling like it used to be. It's just quiet.

"You know," N says, "ever since we met again, I've been thinking nonstop about the promise we made. Do you really not remember?"

You slowly shake your head.

"I see. I believe it's time for you to recall." He takes a deep breath. "We'll part ways for now, but one day we'll reunite and create our own truths together. That was the promise we made that day."

Create your own truths together? Sure, N seemed cold and harsh when you first met him, but now he's revealed sides of him nobody else would ever get to see. You've seen his secrets and his emotions. Somehow, the idea of being with him doesn't seem so bad anymore.

"There was more to the promise, though we didn't understand it at the time. We couldn't have been more than kids."

You let out a little, "Hm?" at his flushed face.
