"Pathetic. You're pathetic, Natural."

"D-don't call me that!" He squeezes your hand tighter.

a) "Leave him alone!"

b) "He isn't pathetic!"

c) "Just shut up!

a) "Leave him alone!" you almost yell, but you remember N doesn't like yelling "Don't call him that!"

"I can call him whatever I want!" Ghetsis snaps. "He's my son after all!"

"No you can't! You can't say that kind of thing to anyone, especially not your son!"

N squeezes your hand again. "It's... It's alright, Y/N. I'm-"

"It isn't," you insist.

b) "He isn't pathetic! "He's fine just the way he is."

N's eyes widen, and he turns a little pink. "Y/N..."

Ghetsis narrows his eyes. "He. Failed."

"In your eyes. In mine, he's done nothing to warrant being called pathetic!"

Seriously, what's this Ghetsis guy thinking?

c) "Just shut up, why don't you?"

Both N and Ghetsis look shocked.

"You don't know anything, so stop talking!"

Ghetsis looks like he might hit you. "What did you say, you little-"

Zekrom cuts him off with a growl.

(N POV)

Y/N stood up for me.

Nobody's ever done that before. How is it supposed to feel?

Zoroark growls, glaring knives at Ghetsis. He transforms into me and picks up my discarded sword. He turns towards Ghetsis.

That's enough to shut him up for sure.

Ghetsis backs away. "Hey! Control your Pokémon!"

I step out from behind Y/N. "Zoroark, that's enough."

"No it isn't," he snaps. "For the fifteen years I've been with you, I've had to watch that Ghetsis guy treat you like shit! I'm angry, N." Zoroark steps towards Ghetsis again.

"I said to control your Pokémon! Why don't you use that freak ability of yours to talk to it?" Ghetsis sounds angry, but there's fear in his eye.

Zoroark flicks the sword to the side, then points it at him. He smacks the flat of the blade against Ghetsis' side, and I hear a loud crack.

Was that a bone?

Y/N looks equally horrified.

No, if it was a bone, Ghetsis would have screamed. Zoroark must have hit one of his Pokéballs.

Not to hurt the Pokémon inside, of course. He most likely only broke them so Ghetsis can't let his Pokémon out to battle.

Ghetsis, face stricken with anger and fear, takes several steps back, then bolts down back into the castle.

Zoroark looks at me hopefully. "Can I chase him? Can I please chase him??"

I sigh. "Knock yourself out."

He grins and runs off after Ghetsis.

(Y/N POV)

Zoroark runs off as N sighs.

"Hopefully he doesn't do anything...too bad." He shakes his head, then turns to Reshiram and Zekrom. "Thank you for everything, you two. And...I'm sorry."

"No need to apologize, little King," Reshiram tells him. "You have been chosen as the Hero of Truth, because you are questioning your truth."

"The same goes for Y/N. The Dark Stone chose you because you follow your ideals." Zekrom grins at you.

N looks uncertain, but nods. "I see. Um...do you two mind giving Y/N and me a moment?"

The two dragons exchange glances, then fly up into the air.

"N?" you ask. "Is something wrong?"

He turns around and pulls you into a tight hug. "I'm so sorry for everything. I shouldn't have dragged you into all this."

"N, you didn't drag me into anything. I'm glad I've been through all this with you."

He lets out a little gasp, then holds you tighter. "I'm happy to hear you say that. Really." He steps back, giving you some space.

The two of you look up and watch Zekrom and Reshiram fly around.

It's been a wild ride, that's for sure, and it's weird to think it all started with a hurt Pidove in an alleyway.

"Y/N," N says, getting your attention. He doesn't look away from the dragons. "I want to be a trainer I'll like too. I want to find the dreams I wish to pursue, not the ones I've been led to pursue. I want to be a trainer..." He blushes a little. "...like you."

"Like...me?"

"Yes. Like you. Look at you, you're free, you're kind. I love you Y/N, and I want to be like you." He reaches both arms up to the sky. "It's such a vast, limitless world! I want to see it all."

His arms drop to his sides, and he looks at you tenderly.

"I want to see it with you. I want to be with you. But I want you to want it too." He smiles and holds his hand out. "So...what do you say?"

a) "I would love that."

b) "Of course!"

c) "Can I think about it?"

a) "I would love that," you tell him, taking his hand.

He smiles. "I had a feeling you would. Still, my heart's beating so fast, like it thought you would decline."

b) "Of course!" you say excitedly. Even after all this, you and him can finally be together. It feels like a dream.

N takes both your hands and looks into your eyes.

You'd forgotten how perfect his eyes are.

c) You step back, an awkward blush rising to your cheeks. "Can I think about it?"

You expect him to be upset, but he smiles.

"Of course. I would never want to pressure you into anything. I want you to be happy."

Yeah, he's definitely a keeper.

He steps closer so only a breath separates you. "Whatever you choose, I'll accept it. I'll stand by you. I think that's what it means to love someone. O-of course, I'll still give you space. I don't mean I want to be in your face all the time... I just..."

He trails off, so you give him a little kiss on the cheek.

He blinks, taken by surprise, then shakes his head and wraps his arms around you. "You're really something, you know? Let's go then, we'll take our own paths."
