(The Stranger's POV)
I can't believe this.
No, I should have expected it.
It was my fault for trusting them so soon.
I make my way across the small wooden bridge on Route 2, my head in the clouds.
Lost in my thoughts, as always. It's more peaceful there, more quiet, more logical. My thoughts are nobody's but my own, and nobody else can hear them. It's nice for me.
But that hardly matters.
I kick a small stone in annoyance.
They have a Pokédex.
I thought they were someone good. After all, they came to the aid of that Pidove.
But with a Pokédex in their hand...they'd go to capture every Pokémon, all for the sake of some stupid research.
I'm not against progress or science, in fact, science was one of my best subjects when the Sages taught me.
It's just...why must you bring so much harm to so many Pokémon when you could just ask them what you need to know?
This is why all Pokémon need to be liberated. We selfish humans are taking them away from their homes for our own benefit.
I'm no different, of course.
I pull my partner's Pokéball out of my pocket.
This one was hurt by humans, but he trusted me.
I wonder why Snivy said such good things about his trainer.
(Y/N POV)
You step out of the Gym, with your very first victory against a Gym Leader under your belt. The challenge was intended to be difficult for new trainers, being a battle against the Gym Leader using the type strong against your starter.
You were nervous for it, so Snivy ended up being a little overleveled.
Anyways, next is Route 3 to get to Nacrene City, and you happen to find Bianca near the Pokémon Daycare.
"Hi, Y/N!" she chirps. She holds up a small green Pokémon. "Look what I caught! It's called Petilil! Now I'll be able to beat Cheren in a battle!"
You scan Petilil with your Pokédex.
"Aaaaaanyways, are you headed to Nacrene?"
"Sure am!"
"Alright. See, I still haven't beat the Striaton Gym yet, so I'll have to catch up with you later!"
You two wave goodbye and head off in separate directions.
Snivy's perched on your shoulder as you walk with a bit of spring in your step.
"I bet Cheren's all the way in Castelia by now," you say to yourself. Cheren most likely had his entire journey planned out from the time he was five. He was probably the most excited out of all of you to start his journey, but he'd never let that show.
You think back to when he teared up on Route 1. Unless that was actually allergies like he said. Nah, he was definitely emotional.
So, you make it to Nacrene City and decide to check out the museum, which doubles as a Gym. Who knows, maybe you'd learn something.
