...
"Y/N, I want you to have this."
"A Pokéball? What's inside?"
"A Purrloin. She's a gift from me. Keep her close to you."
"Wait, where are you going?"
"Y/N, can you promise me something?"
"Of course."
"We'll part ways for now. But one day the two of us will-"
You wake up in the dormitory wing of the Team Plasma Frigate, like every morning. You get out of bed, change into your uniform, equip your Pokéballs, and leave your room, making sure to lock it behind you, just like every morning. In fact, today is just like every other day, except for the fact there's a higher-up grunt waiting for you on deck.
"Y/N," he says, "You're off to Floccesy Ranch. Rood's got a job for you and Jacob."
You give a quick nod, and go to another corner of the large airship to get a flying-type Pokémon.
You've only one Pokémon, a Liepard which started out as a Purrloin gifted to you by Lord Ghetsis himself. As a Neo Team Plasma grunt, you're only allowed to have two or three Pokémon at a time, because Team Plasma aims to free all Pokémon from humans. The Unfezant you've just borrowed is one of Ghetsis', meant to be returned once it's done helping you.
So you fly on Unfezant's back all the way to Floccesy Town. It's a smooth flight, nothing unusual. Just like always.
You make sure nobody sees you land, as that could mean big trouble if you were to be reported before even starting your mission. You meet up with Rood and Jacob.
"Alright grunts," the Sage says. "Your job is to grab the Herdier from Floccesy Ranch. Once they evolve into Stoutland they will be quite powerful indeed, therefore lending their service to Team Plasma."
Jacob raises his hand, earning a glare from the Sage. "What do we do if we get caught?"
"Nothing. Because you aren't going to get caught. Y/N, make sure to keep him in line, won't you?"
"Of course, Lord Rood," you say, almost automatically.
The answer seems to be good enough for him, as he nods and leaves the area, most likely to give an update to Ghetsis.
You and the grunt split up to cover more ground, and you head towards the ranch.
Herdier's easy to spot, since it's always barking at the Mareep to keep them from running away.
You slip into the tall grass, blending in nicely thanks to your dark uniform, and sneak up right behind the Herdier. You clamp a hand over its snout so it can't howl for help and vanish deeper into the ranch.
