Colonel Phillips' Tent
The three ran in as Steve and Alexandria looked worried. "Colonel Phillips," Steve said sternly.
"Well, if it isn't the Star-Spangled Man With A Plan. And what is your plan today?" Phillips asked.
"I need the casualty list from Azzano," Steve said.
"You don't get to give me orders, son," Phillips said and Alexandria crossed her arms.
"I just need one name. Sergeant James Barnes from the hundred and seventh," Steve said then Phillips pointed at Peggy.
"You and I are gonna have a conversation later that you won't enjoy," he said.
"Please tell me if he's alive, sir. B-A-R-" Steve started to say.
"I can spell," Phillips said before he sighed. "I have signed more of these condolence letters today than I would care to count. But the name does sound familiar. I'm sorry."
Steve looked down in sadness as Alexandria looked as if she was about to cry. Peggy then took her hand in reassurance, then Alexandria quickly turned and hugged her. Peggy softly smiled before she started to rub the young girl's back in comfort. "What about the others? Are you planning a rescue mission?" Steve asked.
"Yeah! It's called winning the war," Phillips said.
"But if you know where they are, why not at least-" Steve started to ask.
"They're thirty miles behind the lines. Through the most heavily fortified territory in Europe. We'd lose more men than we'd save. But I don't expect you to understand that, because you're a chorus girl," Phillips said and Steve looked at him in annoyance.
"I think I understand just fine," Steve said.
"Well then understand it somewhere else. If I read the posters correctly, you got someplace to be in thirty minutes," Phillips said before he walked away. Steve then looked at the military map which showed where the men were.
"Yes, sir. I do," Steve said before he walked out of the tent. Peggy and Alexandria stared at the map and realized what Steve was up to.
"If you have something to say, right now is the perfect time to keep it to yourself," Phillips said to Peggy. Then Alexandria ran out of the tent, after Steve, with Peggy following.
Steve's Tent
Alexandria and Peggy ran into the tent to see that Steve was changing and packed some things. "What do you plan to do? Walk to Austria?" Peggy asked.
"If that's what it takes," Steve said.
"You can't!" Alexandria exclaimed.
"You heard the Colonel, your friend is most likely dead," Peggy said.
"You don't know that," Steve said.
"Even so, he's devising a strategy. If he detects-" Peggy started to say.
"By the time he's done that, it could be too late!" Steve exclaimed before he walked out of the tent, with the girls following. "You told me you thought I was meant for more than this. Did you mean that?"
"Every word," Peggy said.
"Then you gotta let me go and take care of my daughter. I don't trust anyone else but you to do it," Steve said before he got into a jeep.
"I can do more than that," Peggy said.
Skies of Italy
Peggy, Steve, and Alexandria were in a plane piloted by Howard Stark. "The HYDRA camp is in Krausberg, tucked between these two mountain ranges. It's a factory of some kind," Peggy said.
