Jin suddenly sat up, the gun tightly clutched in between his fingers. His hair were a mess due to continuous tossing and turning in the sheets, dark bangs slightly obscuring the polished silver glisten of his eyes and beads of sweat shined on his brow.
He got up and hesitantly looked in the mirror, gazing up to look at his reflection.
The nightmare had shaken him.
Revived those moments of his life that he had been doing a rather wonderful job in hiding.
Until now he had forgotten them, or so he thought.
No. They had just been buried in the back of his head, waiting for a spark to reawken them.
A trigger.
Just one push and they would all come swirling back in his mind.
"Please don't hurt me.."
That voice again. It began to echo in his mind.
"Please stop. It hurts.."
"No please...."
But for some reason when he looked into the eyes of the victim, they were not the colour they used to be. Instead, they were... blue.
A churning ocean blue...
They were not the eyes he remembered.
These eyes were different.
Not the victim's eyes
They were Lisa's...She was the trigger.
It was her very presence that the nightmares had resumed, attacking his mind, torturing him.
No. Not nightmares.
Memories..Her very aura resembled that of.. . the innocent young victim all those years ago, now just a memory.
Now the victim was gone.
Dead. Faded. Forgotten.Until her.. .
All of a sudden, another voice from a memory long forgotten made its way in his head.
"I told you. If you dont do as I say, I'll beat you up till the point you are so broken that you won't even be able to recognise your own reflection in the mirror."
Jin found himself looking at the scene. The young man with unmistakably silver orbs staring down at a victim in a richly decorated living room.
The victim shivered but there was no escaping the torture.
There never was.
He walked closer. The victim sobbed harder while the young man beat the victim mercilessly, the once cheerful smile of the victim now replaced by tear stained cheeks, a terrified expression.
"Stop please," the victim sobbed but the young man didn't.
Oh no no no. You deserve this."
"I don't deserve this please stop. You're not nice..."
The young man stared at the victim with eyes as cold and frozen as a glacier.
"I'll make you regret that."
He started beating the victim again who sobbed and whimpered, writhed and screamed and tried to shut out the pain but the young man did not stop.
Jin was stationary, just staring at the scene, no intentions of interfering.
Then, the victim looked at him.
The eyes were so blue, so pretty, so broken, it caused a sudden throb in his heart. He tried running towards the victim but seemed to be separated by an invisible wall.
"Nooo."
His eyes shot open. His pupils began to dilate, finally resting on the figure in front of him.
Lisa.
Jin calmed his racing heart, looking directly at her.
She stood in the hallway staring at him. Had she not been surprised by his sudden scream he was sure she would have been trembling in fear like a leaf in winter.
"W-what are you doing here?"
She stiffened.
Jin grabbed her by the arm, got her in the room and shut the door, trapping her in between him and the wall.
"I asked you... what are you doing here?" he repeated.
Lisa shivered.
"I-I'm s-sorry," she replied, head bent in fear.
Jin kept his gaze fixed on her for a few minutes before sighing.
"Are you.. . alright?"
She surprised him with the question. He expected her to be too afraid to even forget the recent event.
One thing he was sure of now.
She had guts.
"Why do you ask?"
"I-I heard you s-scream," she stuttered.
Clearly she was a curious little bunny, eager to explore.
"Nothing. And you shouldn't ask."
Lisa nodded and Jin thought he saw a slight smile form on her pretty pink lips before suddenly disappearing.
"Lisa," he said, looking directly into her eyes.
"Do not talk to anyone about this."
She nodded.
"Good."
Jin looked at her. Her eyes. Just moments ago he remembered someone similar from so long ago.
Jin threw his head on her right shoulder.
Lisa's breath hitched. She had no idea what to do. All she knew was that he was someone who needed comfort at the moment and she was the only one who knew this. She lightly caressed the top of his head, slightly touching the back of his neck.
It could not be concluded as a hug. But it was the closest thing to one.
"Your heartbeat you know.. . is so damn funny.. ."
