Jeonghan couldn't remember the last time he had this much fun, laughed this much. Seungcheol forgot what new love was like. Under the protection of the stars and the moon, the two spent the rest of the night, laughing till they couldn't breathe, and then laughing some more.
Seungcheol took Jeonghan home around midnight. As they approached the door of the apartment, Seungcheol took Jeonghan's hands in his. " I had fun tonight. A lot more fun than I thought I did. And I really want to see you again."
"I really want to see you again too." Seungcheol smiled shyly, and Jeonghan could feel his heart pounding faster. "I'll give you a call sometime this week, and we'll set up another date, okay?"
Seungcheol nodded. "That sounds great." Seungcheol brought Jeonghan's hand to his mouth and gave it a gentle kiss.
"Until next time, Jeonghan-ssi"

One of the things Jeonghan hated about being a resident was the fact the fact that he barely had a life outside of the hospital. He lived and breathe the hospital. He spent 2 or 3 nights a week in the on-call room, and the rest half asleep on the couch in his lonely apartment trying to study. This week had been particularly gruelling - it was time for their quarterly evaluations and Jeonghan had to do everything in his power to suck up to his attending, working endless hours and taking on as many of his shift he could. He couldn't afford to get a bad evaluation, not with how competitive the job pool was these days.
Jeonghan was wrapped up in his own thoughts when he heard someone clear his throat.
"I don't think it's supposed to be like that."
He looked down and saw that he had ben wrapping the bed post in gauze instead of the patient's foot! He abruptly got up from his stool and began to untie the bed post.
"I'm so so so sorry ma'am. I don't know what got into me."
The elderly woman just smiled at Jeonghan. "It's fine sweetie. A young handsome man your age must only be thinking of one thing to get so lost. It must be hard to work so many hours at the hospital. Do you miss your girlfriend? Boyfriend?"
Jeonghan blushed at the mention of a boyfriend, and the woman just chuckled. Seungcheol wasn't exactly his boyfriend - they'd only gone out once - but he couldn't deny the fact that he was just thinking of him. Jeonghan mostly felt guilty. He had promised to call him, but with this week just being so hectic, he didn't get the time, or the courage, to call him. With each passing day, he felt more and more guilty and put it off even more, and now he felt too guilty to even send him a text.
Jeonghan finished wrapping up the lady's leg and after apologizing again, was on his way to see his next patient when he heard his name being called.
"Jeonghan!" Soonyoung called out to him. "Wait up, I'm coming with you" Jeonghan saw his friended, and stayed put. Soonyoung caught up to him and they begun walking together.
"What's up Soonyoung, how's it been?"
"Stressful. Stupid evaluations. How does my ability to wash Dr. Kang's car determine my ability as a doctor huh?" Jeonghan chuckled. "Effing bureaucracy." As they turned a corner, Jeonghan noticed they were going the wrong way.
"Soonyoung, my patient is that way. I'll get going, okay?"
"Hang on, I just need to grab something from the doctor's lounge, and then I need to head that way too. Just come with me for a second."
Jeonghan sighed, but followed his friend into the doctor's lounge. As they entered, Jeonghan noticed someone sitting in a chair, waiting, with two cups of coffee in his hand. Upon seeing Jeonghan, he sprung up, and smiled at him.
