Izzy POV:

Izzy and Alec were standing with Jace by the cocktail bar when Jace asked:

"Has Lydia said anything about her sister having a boyfriend?"

"No... you creep." Alec responded with a frown. "Stop stalking her."

Izzy felt the corners of her mouth twitch upward as she asked with a teasing tone in her voice. "Does the Jace Herondale have a crush? I never thought I'd see the day!"

Jace frowned and shook his head a little too hastily for it to be convincing.

Smirking, Izzy shoved his shoulder playfully and said, "If you really want to find out, why don't you ask her?"

Jace looked at her as if she were crazy. "But what if she does have a boyfriend? That would be completely mortifying. She would look at me with the weirdest look on her face and then probably slap me or something..."

Isabelle quirked an eyebrow, "Since when are you worried that girls aren't going to like you? You're always so quick with you little flirtatious winks and comments.

"Think about it; put yourself in her position," Izzy waved her arms around Jace's face as if she were painting the scenario in his brain, "You are there, talking to your sister, when suddenly the most beautiful, hot dude you've ever seen in your life comes up to you and asks you to dance, who would say no?"

Jace chuckled a little and asked, "You think I'm a 'hot dude'?"

"That's weird. You're basically my brother," Izzy said, scrunching up her nose, "Although I will say that you're decent looking, you know, for a Herondale."

Jace smirked at that, "At least I'm better looking than you."

"Ooooooooh," Alec whispered in his sister's ear, "That's gotta hurt."

Izzy frowned and then said so quietly that only Alec could hear, "Maybe I'm not as good looking as him but at least I know how to catch a man..."

Alec turned beet red and walked away without another word.

"What did you say to him?" Jace asked, frowning on the direction that Alec had headed in.

"I just told him to buzz off, and that if he was half as attractive as me, this selection would be over." Izzy lied. It wasn't a full on lie, but it wasn't the full truth either.

Jace shrugged and continued looking at the mystery redhead.

"Are you serious? Just go up to her already!" Isabelle whined.

Jace shook his head once again.

"Coward." Izzy muttered, turned on her heel and walked in the direction of where Magnus was standing rigidly at his post.

"I know you can't talk while you're on duty so I'm just going to stand here looking extremely awkward and out of place." She told him, whispering so that he wouldn't get in trouble.

She could've sworn that she heard him chuckle but he didn't move his line of sight from staring straight forward.

With a devilish glint in her eye, Izzy whispered "Did you know that THE Jace Harondale has a crush?"

At this, Magnus' concentration broke.

He snapped his head towards Izzy, eyes wide. "Seriously, who?"

"I would have thought it was obvious by the way he's been looking at her for the entire time." She said, waving a lazy finger in Jace's direction.

Magnus glanced at Jace, "It seems that a certain red head has caught his eye," He said as he nudged Isabelle with his elbow, "Who would have thought? What do you think about it?"

"I think its great, you know. He finally might have a shot at being happy with somebody that is more than a one-night stand."

Magnus snorted, "I didn't know that Jace was capable of such extreme achievements."

Izzy glared at him before shrugging, "Neither did I honestly, but this girl seems to maybe, have the ability to change him."

"Hm. I used to know her back while I lived in Liberty," He paused, in thought, "She was a bright little girl. Always had extra energy to spend, running around the city.

"Clary, That's her name."

"Clary," Izzy repeated, "That's a nice name. I'm glad that Jace potentially found someone," She said staring at her cousin as he followed Clary out of the ballroom, "I just hope she doesn't break his heart."
