14: i can just disobey the law

Ashton dropped me off at home which made me worried. Because my mom didn't call me. And Ashton knew this. So why the hell would he bring me here?

He already drove off so I was on my own. I went up to the door and opened it with my key.

"Lily?" She was staring at me.

"Mom are you okay?" I asked.

"Lily!" She hugged me.

What the fuck.

"Mom, I'm Luke." I bent down a bit to meet her eye level.

"No. No. You're Lily." She said.

"Let's go get something to eat." I said.

I grabbed the car keys and her hand before sitting her in the passengers seat. I have my permit so I could drive while she was in the car.

I didn't drive to a restaurant though. I drove to the hospital.

"Lily! No! Don't take me here!" She started crying.

I got out and went around, grabbing her hand and going into the building.

"Hello! How may I help you?" She asked.

"So I was at my friend's house and when I came back my mom was going crazy. She's calling me by my old name and just acting all weird and unlike herself so I just got extremely worried." I explained.

"Okay. And her name is?" The girl looked me in the eyes.

"Elizabeth Hemmings."

"And your name?" She bit her lip.

"Lucas Hemmings." I let go of my mom's wrist.

"Okay handsome. I'll bring your mom to the doctor." she batted her eyelashes.

"I'm gay." I said.

She looked extremely disappointed as I said that but I didn't give two shits.

I sat in the waiting room for about a half hour before calling Ashton.

"Luke? It's like 1 AM." he said tiredly into the phone.

"Oh shit sorry. I'm at the hospital and I'm really bored." I said.

"Why are you at the hospital?"

"My mom went bonkers. I don't think I've said bonkers before in my life." I said.

"Oh. Okay. Do you want me to come?"

"That's what she said."

"You dirty minded dick."

"You don't have to I just kind of wanted to talk to you. Good night Ashy." I said.

"But now I'm awake." I could vision him pouting.

"Just go back to sleep." I laughed.

"Okay. Good night Lukey."

"Goodnight Ashy." I smiled.

He hung up and I started playing Crossy Road when the doctor came in.

"Luke?"

I locked my phone and stood up.

"Your mom is developing schizophrenia. It isn't severe but she's hallucinating that you are her daughter not her son. She is going to have to go to a mental asylum before she gets any worse. Since she has no one that can be with her 24/7." he explained.

"Can I at least say goodbye?" I was going to cry. I mean she's my mom.

"Are you 18?"

"No. I'm 17." I said.

"You have to stay with someone that is 18 or older. And your house has to be sold or have someone older take it." He said sadly.

"Can I call my brothers before seeing her?" I looked up.

He nodded and I pulled out my phone, dialing Ben's number first.

"Luke?" He asked.

"Hi. Um so mom is being sent to a mental asylum because she's developing schizophrenia. And they said we either have to sell the house or have someone over 18 move in. I know you have college but it's only like 10 minutes can you please move back? But I'm either going with Jack or ashton no offense." I explained everything.

"Yeah of course. The semester is over in 2 weeks anyways. Then I have the summer off until I go back in September." He said.

"Okay thank you so much." I smiled.

"No problem kiddo. Love you. Now I'm going back to sleep." he said.

"Love you too bye." I hung up and quickly called Jack.

"What Luke. It's 1:32 AM." He said annoyed.

"Moms being put into a mental asylum with schizophrenia and I need a place to stay until I'm 18." I said.

"You can stay here. It's no problem. But you'll probably be woken in the middle of the night by Indiana or Zoë." He laughed.

"It's fine. I don't care. Normally it's Ashton calling me not a kid but." I laughed.

"Okay well tell mom I love her and I'm going to go back to sleep." He said.

"Okay. Night."

He hung up and I followed the doctor to where mom was waiting to be taken away.

"Bye mom. I love you. Jack loves you and Ben loves you." I kissed her cheek.

"Be good Lily. And take care of Blink and Tony for me too." she said.

I nodded even though I had no clue what she was talking about.

"Bye mom." I hugged her and walked out of the room.

"Luke, you have to pay bills for the mental asylum you know. Is there someone I can call?" The doctor said.

"Just take it off of the credit card she used when I switched to a guy." I said.

"Okay okay. It isn't a lot of money since insurance pays for most of it but go home Luke." He said.

"I can't drive. I only have a permit that let me drive while she was in the car." I said sheepishly.

"Can you call someone?" He asked.

"It's almost 2 am." I laughed.

"Um." He was thinking.

"Sir, I can just disobey the law and drive home. It's only a 3 minute car ride." I said.

"Do you pass the police station?"

"No."

"Go ahead." he laughed.

I went out and quickly drove home, thankfully not getting caught.

I immediately went upstairs and to sleep. That was one hectic night.
