Cole POV
We were now at the ninjago talent show and in the back practicing our dance. There were other performers practicing too. We were all dressed in striped vests with matching hats. Mine was black, Jay's was blue, Kai's was red, Zane's was white, and Raven's was a teal color.
We all practiced the dance while I recited the moves. "Then the kick, barrel roll, barrel turn, and we all do the double wings-" suddenly Kai jumped into Jay. "Hey! you gotta follow me!" Jay argues. "Follow you? You're two beats off!" Kai argues back. "Actually 2.72 off." Zane corrects. Raven rolls her eyes and crosses her arms.
"Guys, guys! Lets not make this any harder than it needs to be. we just stick to the plan and keep up the charade until the trophy's revealed. once we steal the blade cup we can argue all we want when we get back home." I intervene.
"But this is your home town ,Cole. Don't you want to try and win it?" Jay questions. I groan. "the only dance step I want to preform is called get me out of this nuthouse and burn these memories from my head!" Raven's brow furrowed. "This is your own dumb fault! If i had told dad about your stupid lies, i wouldn't even be in this situation!" She shouts over my voice. I open my mouth to shout back when suddenly a voice from behind me. "What?" It was my dad's.
"Dad, i-"
"You were going to steal it?" He questions. I sigh. "Dad," I say walking forward. "I didn't mean for you to hear that, but I'm glad you did. There's something I've been wanting to tell you. All these years I haven't been training to be a singer or a dancer. I found something new that i'm really good at! Dad," I use my spinjitzu and change into my gi. "I'm a ninja."
Dad looks at me In shock. "And the truth is if we don't steal that fang blade, er, blade cup. There's other people who will. Bad people, serpentine.,and we need it to save the world. I know how ridiculous this sounds but I'm proud of who I am, and I want you to be proud of me too." I say.
He shakes his head And slowly backs away "I can't be proud of any son who thinks stealing is alright, and any daughter who keeps things from her own father. I'm not going to wait around to watch you make a mockery of our family's legacy."
"Dad, I-" but it's too late. he's gone. I groan. "I'm sure he didn't mean that." Kai reassures me. "Maybe if he just saw you in action." Jay try's to make me feel better. "No, it's ok." I say glumly. Raven throws down her hat in frustration and walks away.
One of the dressing room doors opens and four weird people walk out with sunglasses and hair that doesn't seem real. The door closes and printed on a gold star reads "Treble Makers".
"Treble Makers?" Kai questions. I hear a voice coming from behind the curtain and Kai goes over to look. After a few minutes he comes back. "It looks like we're not the only ones planning to steal the blade cup. Pythor's here." he sums up. "This complicates things." Zane says rubbing his temples.
"Then I say we make our move. We can't risk losing out again. I say we steal it." Jay pipes in. "We're not going to steal it." Kai, Jay and Zane look at me with confusion. " We're gonna win this competition! But we're gonna do it our way." I say. "Our way?" they say in unison.
"I'll be right back. Get ready." I say running off and looking for raven. I find her slumped against a wall scowling at the floor. "Raven, we need you." I say to her. "Why would you need me? I can't dance. Besides I only agreed to join you to make dad happy and that did nothing." she spits.
"We aren't doing this for dad. We're doing this for Ninjago. If dad can't be proud of us for who we are, then we can be proud of ourselves. We don't need his approval for doing what we want." I say which gets her to look at me. I take off my hood and smile at her. "C'mon. we've got room for one more." I say as Kai, Zane and Jay walk over to us in their gis.
