17// Rise of the Great Devourer {part two}

Raven POV

Sensei Wu looked gravely at the mile deep hole with red eyes gleaming in the dark. "you must do everything in your power to stop the great devourer!" he addresses us with a worried expression. "go ninja, go!"

behind me i heard Nya take off in her mech. i assumed that she'd taken Lloyd with her. "yes." Sensei said with a nod before turning back to the pit. Behind him, Pythor quivered with fear.

The tiles of the city of Ourobourus exploded as the Great Devourer rose into the sky. debris rained down on the five of us, who backed up and hid under the door frame. the gargantuan snake roared in rage and struck. Pythor let out a squeal before him and sensei disappeared down the snake's throat. sensei was gone, and surely dead.

i shook my head in disbelief. "sensei." Kai said, grief in his voice. "no." Jay says reaching out.

the snake rose back into the sky just as it noticed us. the five of us slowly backed up. "maybe if we stand, perfectly still..." jay begins before the devourer hisses. i busted in between Zane and Cole and ran the hardest i have ever run in my life. somewhere behind me i heard Kai shout "run!" yeah like i needed to know that.

the guys shortly caught up with me, with Jay in my left and Kai on my right. at one point Jay tripped but not even 5 seconds afterwards i heard him scream "wait! WAIT FOR ME!"

we climbed aboard the bounty and landed, wheezing, in a pile on the floor inside the bridge. "uh, where's Jay?" i question as Jay comes tumbling inside, before standing and glancing at the screen where it showed the Devourer slithering towards us. "uh, i hate to tell you this but objects in the mirror are closer than they appear!" he tells Nya as she began to rise the bounty into the air. "working on it," she replied pressing a series of buttons. "blasters on full!"

i glance out the window and see the devourer snap at the bounty, that made a close escape. "who-hoo! take that you stupid snake!" Kai says with joy. through the front window, the devourer burst through the ground in front of us, waiting to eat us up in one bite. "um, i think he heard you." Jay whimpered.

Nya made a sharp turn right and the bounty barely escaped another bite. "Nya, we have to go faster. that thing is gaining on us!" Kai tells his sister glancing out the back window. "we're going as fast as we can! i'll try to make it to scattered canyon!" Nya replied. i look forward and see, the very self- explanatory, scattered canyon.

"probability of us making it that far is less that 8 percent!" Zane replied. "never tell me the odds!" Nya shouted back. "Zane you know what we were talking about things that are not necessarily helpful?" i ask putting a hand on his shoulder. "it's coming in for another attack!" Cole shouted looking at the ratings on the screen. "port side!"

Nya grunted and turned to the left. "we're loosing speed! we'll drop to the ground soon!" Lloyd shouted looking at me worriedly. "throw everything overboard!" Nya shouted with the rest of us replying with "WHAT?!" "we need to loose some weight!" Nya shouted. "port side!"

Nya turned to the left again, but the Devourer took a part out of the booster. the bounty tilted to the right, we all ran down below deck, and Nya strained to keep the bounty level. i stopped by my room. i didn't have many personal belongings there, most were still at my dad's house. most of it could be replaced. i strapped the now finished saddle for Strike onto my back along with my bow and sheath and looked around before closing the door. i ran down the hall and helped Zane carry a dresser up the stairs, and hauling it over the railing.

i glanced over the ledge and saw the devourer swallow the fridge, a lamp, and a few more things before shedding some scales and slithering after us. "man, he sure is hungry!" Jay stated from the bridge. " does anyone think the devourer looks bigger than it did before?"
