20// Rise of the Great Devourer {part five}

{No POV}

A loud roar came from just beyond the corner. Kai waited for the giant snake. The devourer rounded the corner and immediately saw Kai, in his red gi. The devourer slithered toward him and Kai glared at it, determined. 

"Come on you overgrown worm, take the bait." Kai said to himself. The devourer struggled to squeeze through the tight space in-between the buildings. "Come and get me!" Kai shouted as the snake slithered nearer. Then he turned and ran, fast enough to keep from being eaten, but not enough so that the snake would loose interest. The snake roared as Kai reached the bridge over lanes of speeding cars. He glanced back at the devourer and leaped onto the roof of a speeding bus below, just before  the devourer smashed down where he was once standing. 

The devourer followed Kai down the bridge. Kai leaped off the bus' roof and met up with Cole. "Nice run, now I'll take it from here." Cole said to Kai, who nodded and quickly scurried off. Cole took his place. 

Cole jumped from the roof of a car to a balcony and leaped back to the ground before getting hit from the giant snake. He ran further down the street, and hopped onto the hood of a parked car. Cole flipped from car to car, setting off the alarms, and the devourer close behind. He ran hard to an alleyway, only a few feet in front of him, and flipped in  before getting eaten. The devourer roared in anger and slithered it's way up the building in front of him. Cole laughed in triumph.

The Devourer looked around the buildings below it before shouts got it's attention. " YO! You big ugly sad excuse for a snake!" Raven shouted. The Devourer turned to look at her. She was standing atop a tall insurance building. "That's right! c'mere you lousy piece of crap!" The devourer hissed and slowly stretched itself to meet Raven's eyes. 

"Come and get me!" she shouted, sliding down a power line that was stretched out to the top of the building. Raven inched out further as the devourer came crashing down, cutting the line. She grasped the line and let out a wild laugh and she swooped down Tarzan-style onto the rooftop of a smaller building. Raven let go and rolled when she hit the rooftop. She glanced behind her and saw that the devourer was still in pursuit. She grinned under her mask. 

Raven sprinted to the other side of the building.She used her thunder to project herself outward and landing safely on another rooftop. As she propelled herself to an abandoned parking building she shouted to Jay "Here it comes!".

The Devourer looked down at the roof of the building where Jay stood. "Looking for me?" He asked, his  normally cheerful voice deathly quiet.Jay turned and ran to the edge of the building then jumped, landing below behind a billboard. The devourer followed him. He jumped to a telephone pole and quickly climbed to the top before leaping to the next roof. Jay turned to make sure the devourer was still following him as he backed up to the top of the building. He stood there looking at the abandoned parking building ahead of him, then at the giant snake behind him. 

Jay jumped to the building , and rolling. The devourer followed him and caused some of the floor of the level above him to crumble, creating perfect holes in the building going upwards. Jay used his elemental power to soar upwards to the top level of the building. Zane and Raven awaited him. Jay landed next to Zane. "What took you so long?" Zane asked. "Save the humor Zane, now's not the time." Jay snapped as Raven chortled under her mask. 

The three ran to the edge of the building. "Instead of a fire escape, how about an Ice escape?"  Zane shouted, him Jay and Raven  jumping from the building and landing on the spiraling slide of ice. Right behind them, the devourer broke through the building and sent debris everywhere.

"ha,ha! nice one Zane!" Jay complimented, sliding on his back. Raven laughed heartily and Zane joined in as well. Jay gave a shriek as he almost fell off, but Zane caught him and put him back on his feet.  The devourer was chasing them, winding around and around different buildings. The snake smashed some of the ice, but Zane quickly repaired it. 

The three reached the end of the slide abruptly. "No. No!" Jay shouted as they were sent flying into the air,the devourer right behind them. "Now!" Kai shouted as the multi dragon swept by and Raven Zane and Jay jumped on. They all waited anxiously as the dragon flew around some buildings. Had it worked?

The dragon followed the devourers' long green tail, winding around dozens of buildings. They rounded the radio tower and found the devourer trapped. biting it's own tail.

The ninja cheered. "We did it!" Cole shouted, high-fiving Raven. The multi dragon landed on a building where the Lloyd and Nya waited. "Now," said Raven sliding off the ginormous dragon and stroking her own dragon. "where's Garmadon? He's not gonna hold for much longer." there was a brief moment of silence until Lloyd pointed at the top of the radio tower. "look! Dad!" 

the sky suddenly became dark as Garmadon stepped to the edge of the building. Garmadon held the four golden weapons in his four hands. Raven's was not there as it had broken in her crash. " You are the reason evil runs through my blood." Garmadon shouted holding up the weapons. a blast of energy shot out. "will he quit it with the monologue and just do it?" Raven hissed. 

"you bit me once," Garmadon spitted with fury in his voice. " now feel what it's like to be bitten back!" Garmadon jumped from the building, the weapons glowing in his four hands. He fell further and further. "go get him, dad." lloyd whispered. Garmadon was emitting such a glow that it looked like he was on fire. He struck the devourer's weak spot and with a final roar the giant snake exploded. 

A wall of green blood flooded the city. the world was filled with light once more and the dark clouds cleared. Cheering could be heard from the streets below.  "we did it! Holy crap, we did it!" Raven shouted, a smile on her face and goo in her hair. the ninja could clearly see people celebrating in the streets below. 

After reaching street level, the ninja were surrounded by cheering citizens. Jay embraced his parents, Cole greeted his dragon, and Lloyd was riding on Raven's back. Lloyd looked around and his smiled wavered. "i don't see my dad." he mumbled. "He should be around here somewhere." said Kai glancing down the street. Zane looked around. "your analysis is incorrect, he is not here." 

Raven put Lloyd down and Cole rejoined his friends. "look!" said Nya " those must be his footprints." She pointed to a pair of green footsteps leading away from where the devourer was destroyed. Kai put a hand on Lloyd's shoulder " i have a feeling you'll be seeing your father very soon." he said as Lloyd sighed. "i know but that's what i'm afraid of." Lloyd replied.

Cole gasped. "Sensei Wu!" he shouted looking down the street.It was true. Sensei Wu stood shakily, wiping some goo from his creme suit. They all stood amazed, when Raven broke off into a run. The rest of the ninja joined her, smiles on all of their faces. Sensei Wu held out his arms and smiled as his pupils surrounded him. "I can't tell you how glad i am to see you." said Sensei, walking past the ninja and picking up his worn old blue teapot. "The devourer left a bad taste in my mouth." Sensei said pouring some tea and drinking it. He sighed. "much better, and still hot!" 

"it's great to have you back, uncle. But my father left, and he took the golden weapons." Lloyd told sensei. All the smiles dropped a little at the reminder of their loss. "yes, very true. The ability of the weapon is truly great, but the ability to better oneself makes you limitless."

"i don't know if i could have said it any better myself." Jay stated with a smile. "besides," Kai said stepping forward, "we have what is most important: you." Lloyd gave him a small smile. "The pupils have become the masters." Sensei said with a sigh. Lloyd frowned, looking concearned."Am i really gonna have to fight my father one day?" he asked. "one day." sensei replied as Lloyd looked doubtful "But today we can feel good that Ninjago is saved, for tomorrow you will train for the day. Good will finally face evil and a final outcome will be decided for all of time." Finished Sensei, folding his hands behind his back. 

Kai stepped forward. "uh, but don't worry. we're gonna teach you everything we know." Jay put a hand on Lloyd's shoulder. "And make sure you're prepared for that fight." Raven ruffled his hair. "But you're not in this alone, we'll always be here to help you. " she replied with a wink. "because as we all know-" Cole began stepping forward, "Good will always stand up to evil." Zane smiled. "And ninja will always stand up for what's right." 

Lloyd looked more confident now. Sensei puffed with pride and Nya smiled with her hands on her hips. 

"Go, ninja, go!" they shouted in unison, jumping into the air. 

They were a family, they were a team, they were ninja.
