Your POV...
Clem: Are they following us?
You've left the stadium, walking the dark streets. The moon is the only thing giving off light.
You: Probably.
You quickly glance over your shoulder, two dark figures follow from a distance. You only barely spot them.
You: Yeah.
Clem: Where do you want to go?
You: We could go to the Arch. Sit out in front of it and admire it against the starry night sky.
Clem: Are you trying to woo me?
You: I just thought it would be nice, but if it's working, then yes.
Clem: What do you think happened to it?
You: What?
Clem: The Arch. It's all damaged.
She's got the right idea. You have to look and sound like you're just out for a walk. You grab her hand and lace your fingers with hers.
You: It's been standing for... twenty some odd years without any maintenance.
Clem: That's boring, though.
You: When the apocalypse started, a Walker was born in a helicopter. It tore into the pilot's throat, and then the co-pilot's arm and the helicopter crashed into the Arch.
Clem: There would be more damage.
You: Then you come up with a story.
Clem: No.
You: Then we're going with mine.
Clem: What do you think it was like before?
You: I don't know. There was probably more life. Did you ever come?
Clem: No.
You: I didn't either. I wish my parents had taken me to more things like this. But I was young, so I get why they didn't.
Clem: I probably wouldn't really remember it anyway.
You: Yeah.
Clem: It really is tall. I don't understand how you build something like that.
It towers over almost all of the buildings. From the angle you're at right now, you can only see the top.
You: We've built a lot of crazy things. Seems kind of stupid and useless now.
Clem: To them, they had nothing to worry about, so why not?
You: I guess. But they could have been a little more practical.
Clem: I agree, but they were comfortable, so they built what they wanted.
You: Wish we could be that comfortable. Build something like that nowadays, and it's a beacon for death.
Clem: Maybe when Walkers aren't really as much a problem, someone will build something crazy.
You: Doubt it. No law and order, and everyone does what they want.
Clem: I'm sure people are already banding together like our alliance and us.
You: Do I need to remind you that half the alliance is out to get us?
Clem: But they're banding together.
You: True.
Clem: Things will get better. We may not be here for it, but they will.
