It's complicated but at the end, it's just us

chapter 6

In the meantime Gibbs entered autopsy
"What ya got, Palmer?"
"Oh hey Gibbs. Well as Agent Reagan said on the crime scene the victim has a knife wound on his abdomen but it wasn't deep enough to kill him. What killed him was a 9mm bullet hole in his chest. He also has some bruises on his arms, meaning that he tried to defend himself from the attacker, I found some DNA under his nails and I'm sending it to Kasie. I didn't find alcohol in his blood, but he had a substance on his fingertips and that is all for now." Jimmy replied
"Thanks Palmer" Gibbs said and before he was out of the room Jimmy said smiling "You're welcome, Gibbs" and continued working and then Gibbs left.

In the squad room Nick and Reagan were working in silence and then Reagan broke the silence and said "Hey, Nick?"
"What?"
"I have a question for you"
"Shoot"
"Do you think there is something between Sloane and Gibbs?"
"Oh well" Nick said kinda surprised about that question but not too much so he replied "You know, that's something we all say but they keep denying it also because Gibbs has a rule about this thing"
"Oh yeah, rule 12 right?"
"Yeah, how do you know?"
"Mcgee gave me a cheat paper of all Gibbs' rules" said Reagan smiling and then she added "You know Nick, it's a piety they aren't together, they would be a great couple"
"Yeah"
"Hmm" said Reagan and continued working

Mcgee got back to the bullpen and said to the other agents "Kasie said that the gun that shot at Petty Officer James Wyatt was a Beretta 9mm and it belongs to a guy named Harold Fisher"
"Mcgee you with me, we're going to talk with this guy" said Gibbs entering the bullpen and walking towards the elevator
"Don't move Gibbs" said Vance walking down the stairs.
"Agent Mcgee, you said Harold Fisher?"
"Yes Director"
Vance looked worried
"Leon what's going on?" asked Gibbs a bit annoyed about the fact that he couldn't go to that guy for questioning
"Agent Gibbs, Harold Fisher is one of the most dangerous drug and arm dealers in D.C at the moment, he has a gang behind his back and they're all dangerous people,The Satan's Devils, but he also works for someone even more dangerous than him but this guy wasn't identified yet, a lot of force departments are trying to get him"
Reagan cut him off and said
"So that means that since the Navy is involved and since we don't know how big this organization is, we should be careful with it. Also because we don't know how dangerous this guy is and who is he working for"
"That's right, Agent Reagan. So for now just keep searching things about him and investigate on the case, two of you will go undercover but first you have to wait until I think of who, 'til then do not go talk with this guy, clear?" Vance said
"Yep, clear" Gibbs replied a little bit annoyed about it
"Yes, Director" the other agents said in unison
"Good" Vance said as he started to walk up the stairs and then went in his office.

After Vance left the squad room Gibbs went to his desk and the three agents started to look at each other
"So... who do you think is going undercover?" Reagan asked
"Well, I hope it's not me, I have my twins to take care of and I can't just leave them for I don't know how long" Mcgee replied with a little of concern in his tone of voice while thinking about what would've happened if he had to go undercover
"Hmm, what about you Nick?" Reagan asked
"I think it would obviously be me, I mean I lived undercover for years so I think that I would be the right choice to make"
"Oh... so who do you think is going with you then?" Reagan asked kinda curious of what he would've said after that
"I was hoping for Mcgee, but since he doesn't want to go undercover I would be happy to go with Gibbs"
"Oh interesting" said Reagan kinda disappointed about Nick's answer so she kept on searching absolutely anything about the victim or the killer.

A few hours had passed so Gibbs said "it's 6:30 pm, go home"
"Ok, good night, boss" Mcgee said and after he packed up his things, he nodded at Reagan and then left
Nick in the meantime started to pack his things as well and after he was done doing that he said
"Ok, see ya tomorrow, Boss" and looked at Reagan with a little bit of anger because he still thinks that she replaced Ellie, so since he was already thinking of Ellie he decided to go and visit her at the hospital.

Reagan and Gibbs were still at the office when at some point Sloane came down the stairs "Hey Cowboy, what ya still doing here?" she said while walking at his desk but she didn't notice that Reagan was there too, Gibbs looked up at her and said
"Just finishing up some paper work"
"Oh, well I think that that can wait tomorrow. What about a drink or something?" Jack asked, still not noticing Reagan sitting at Ellie's desk,
"That sounds great" Gibbs replied and then turned to Reagan and asked "What about you Reagan?" in that moment Jack realized that Reagan was there as well and felt a bit embarrassed that she didn't see her before and that Reagan heard their conversation.
"Honestly Gibbs, I think that I would stay here for a while and finish some things, but you go have fun" Reagan answered Gibbs' question after she stood up to answer it, she was also kinda smiling since she was quite surprised that Jack asked Gibbs to go grab a drink together and that he accepted her offer
"Ok but how are you getting at home, I mean you don't have a car?"
"Don't worry Gibbs, I'll take a bus when I'm done here, plus Mcgee gave me a piece of paper where he wrote down your address, and Kasie informed me about the bus stops and their timetable, I'll be fine" she said with a little smile on her face
"Ok, so I guess we are ready to do" Gibbs said picking up his jacket and putting his gun and badge in the drawer of his desk
"Yep, we are" said Jack to confirm what Gibbs said and they walked towards the elevator but Gibbs stopped and said to Reagan
"Oh... ehm... Reagan. Don't stay 'til late ok? I'll see ya at my place"
"Yeah ok, oh Gibbs thanks again" Reagan said and then sat down on the chair again.

In the elevator Jack asked Gibbs "why is Reagan coming at your place later Cowboy?"
"She doesn't actually have a place to stay yet so I offered her my guest room, that's all" he replied while looking at her
"Oh... that's so nice of you, Gibbs"
"Why do you sound so surprised Jack?"
"What?! I'm not surprised about what you did and I really think that it's nice of you to do such a thing, but really, I am not surprised about it because you kinda did something nice to me too when we first met" Jack said
Gibbs didn't say anything and kinda smirk at her, it was kinda funny for him to think that Jack might have been a little jealous about Reagan staying at his place.

The elevator doors opened and Gibbs and Jack got out of the building and went to Jack's car as their hands touched while walking one next to the other, she unlocked the car but before could grab the handle Gibbs opened the door on the driver's seat side for her "Thank you, Cowboy" she said as she smiled at him "No problem" he replied and smiled back at her, they gazed into each other's eyes for a few minutes and then Jack  broke the silence and said "So...where do we go?" she kept smiling at him "What about my place?" he offered as hekept looking at her and smiling slightly "Ehm...yeah ok, but what if Reagan comes there too?" Jack replied and looked around a little, he gently moved her chin to make her look at him and said "She won't bother us I promise" she smiled slightly at him "Ok then" she replied "Drive safe Jack" he said "You too, Gibbs" she replied and got in her car, Gibbs went to his truck and got in as well, then they both started driving to Gibbs' place while thinking about each other
