In his dream, neither of them ran away

In his dream, neither of them ran away. No matter how the warped reality of his subconscious twisted itself, she was there, teasing him and pulling him along. First, he stood before his investors, about to give a big presentation that he hadn't prepared for at all. However, Elaina stepped up beside him, holding his hand and whispering in his ear all the things he needed to say.

When he turned to her, he found the night sky. In his Catalyst suit, he flew over the Pacific Ocean. He only had a second to appreciate his situation before a warning alerted him of his depleted power supply. He plummeted, his stomach rising in his throat, silencing his scream. Then she flew down to meet him, wrapping her arms around him as they dove into the cool waters.

Before he could struggle to breathe, the ocean evaporates. In its place was a dark labyrinth of towering stone walls which echoed with Shockwave's jeers. Dominic ran as fast as he could, but he didn't know where to turn. Then he spotted her peeking from around the corner, urging him to follow.

At the center of the maze, the walls fell away and revealed a quiet patch of land in the middle of the forest. His heart settled, knowing that the nightmares had passed. She turned to him, her fingers slowly untying the gossamer robe that hid her divine figure. She smirked at his naked body, which eagerly awaited hers. Elaina's mouth opened, and he longed to hear what sweet words lingered on her delectable tongue.

"Mr. Cramer, you need to get up!"

"Pardon?" he mumbled, shocked to hear the masculine timbre of her voice.

"You need to get up now!"

"Wait, that's..." He sat up straight in his bed, his body coated in sweat and his pulse racing. After a few steadying breaths, he turned to find the source of the voice. "Walt, weren't you the one that told me to get some sleep?"

"Sir, there's been an incident." Walt answered in his typical flat tone, but Dom noted the eagerness in his assistant's voice. The subtle shift in his steady companion's demeanor set every nerve in Dom's body on edge.

"Where's Mir?" He didn't wait for an answer before getting out of bed and marching over to his closet.

"Bauhaus's team reported an altercation between Ms. Sokolov and Ms. Hart at approximately 11:26 this morning."

"Why was Karina allowed in here?" His question was more a growl than words as he pulled on a pair of pants.

"She came under the pretense that she didn't receive her full payment. I offered to review it for her, but she specifically wanted to speak with you. I informed her that you were disposed at the moment and that she could come back later. Tudor, however, offered to prepare lunch for her while we waited. I allowed it so long as Bauhaus's crew monitored her. She went out on the patio and all seemed under control, but then Ms. Hart came up from the basement."

"She's been down there for two days and she had to choose the day Karina shows up to come out." He grabbed a thick suede jacket to wear over his shirt before heading towards his bedroom door. Walt followed behind him.
