Chapter 15 Layla Jackson

Stephanie arrived early at Platform 9 3/4. She boarded the train and sat in a random compartment. There were barely any students aboard so she decided to just read a book. She caught a glimpse of a boy looking through the compartment window. She looked up at him and opened the compartment door.

"Do you need something?"

"No I just um I was captivated by your beauty. You're very pretty."

"Uh thank you.."

"No problem. I better get going. See ya around?"

"Sure?"

She closed the compartment door and sat back down. 'Weird' she thought. The door opened again. There stood a tall, blonde boy. Stephanie looked at him in shock. He no longer had gelled back hair and he grew a lot. He looked handsome, like a prince. The two stared at each other. The boy was in awe as well. Stephanie had a huge glow up. She was taller but shorter than the boy. She was maturing and she looked stunning.

"Malfoy.."

"Snape.."

"Daphne!" Daphne interrupted the two. She sat down next to Stephanie.

"Hey Daphne." Stephanie smiled at her and got up. "You finally got rid of the gel. And you grew.." Stephanie said to the boy.

"You're slimmer." She scoffed at him. "And you look more beautiful."

"Thank you.. I guess." They both sat down. Eventually the compartment filled up with their friends. They talked about their summer and Hogsmeade. The train started to move.

"So Stephanie.. any cute guys you wanna take to Hogsmeade?" Blaise said while smirking and looking at Draco. "And might I say you look beautiful." Blaise kissed her hand.

"Why thank you Blaise but no there isn't anyone yet."

"I'm gonna go annoy Saint Pottah now wanna come Snape?" Draco interrupted.

"Uh sure?" The two left the compartment and headed to the Gryffindor section. Stephanie was confused on why Draco chose her and not his goons. Suddenly, the train stopped and all the lights turned off.

"What's going on Snape?"

"I'm not sure."

Students peaked out of their compartments to see what was going on but saw nothing that answered their questions. Suddenly it got cold. Stephanie saw a weird figure at the end of the hall. It looked like a ghost with a black cloak over it.

"Dementor.." Stephanie said. "Why is it here?"

"Sirius Black escaped remember? I guess they're looking for him." Draco said while pushing her into a random compartment. He fell on top of her in the process.

"Ow! Get off you're hurting me!" Draco got up and closed the compartment door.

"There's a dementor outside we're not snogging or anything!"

"Wow way to calm them down. And I would never get with someone like you, Malfoy." Stephanie looked at the Gryffindors. One of them was the one that called her pretty before. The boy smirked at her. Suddenly the lights turned on and the train started to move again.

"Let's go back to the compartment, Snape."

"Yeah.."

They both made it back to the compartment and sat down.

"Are you guys ok? What happened?"

"Dementor on the train and we're fine."

Eventually the train stopped and everyone got off. The group got on a carriage and made their way into the castle. Once they were inside, they went to the Great Hall and sat at their house table. A lot of students stared at Stephanie out of awe or envy of her looks but she ignored the stares.

"Oh my cousin Layla is getting sorted! Hopefully she'll be in Slytherin."

"Sssshe will Sssssteph. I know it." Eve said while slithering onto the table.

Soon the ceremony started. One by one students were placed into houses.

"Layla Jackson" McGonagall announced.

Layla sat on the stool and the hat was placed onto her head.

"SLYTHERIN!"

Layla grinned and sat at the Slytherin table near Stephanie.

"Congrats Layla!"

"Thank you."

"These are my friends. Daphne, Theodore, Blaise, Crabbe, and Goyle. And that's Malfoy... he's just there. Welcome to Slytherin." Layla waved at them and began talking to a boy next to her that goes by the name Michael. The ceremony finally ended and Dumbledore gave a speech as usual.

"Welcome! Welcome to another year at Hogwarts! I have a few things to say, before we become befuddled by our excellent feast. I myself am particularly looking forward to the flaming kiwi cups, which, while somewhat treacherous for those of us with facial hair... Mm. Yes. First, I'm pleased to welcome Professor R.J. Lupin, who has kindly consented to fill the post of Defense Against the Dark Arts. Good luck to you, Professor."

"Pottah! Pottah! Is it true you fainted?" Draco whisper yelled at Harry while Theo pretended to faint. "I mean you actually fainted?"

"Shove off Malfoy." Weasel said.

"As some of you may know, Professor Kettleburn, our Care of Magical Creatures teacher for many years, has decided to retire in order to spend more time with his remaining limbs. Fortunately, I'm delighted to announce that his place will be filled by none other than our own Rubeus Hagrid!" Stephanie scoffed thinking that Hagrid will be a great teacher. She found Hagrid adorable, but she didn't think he would make a really good teacher. "Finally, on a more disquieting note... at the request of the Ministry of Magic... Hogwarts will, until further notice, play host to the dementors of Azkaban... until such a time as Sirius Black is captured. The dementors will be stationed at every entrance to the grounds. Now whilst I've been assured... that their presence will not disrupt our day-to-day activities... a word of caution. Dementors are vicious creatures. They'll not distinguish... between the one they hunt and the one who gets in their way. Therefore, I must warn each and every one of you... to give them no reason to harm you. It is not in the nature of a dementor to be forgiving. But you know, happiness can be found... even in the darkest of times... if one only remembers to turn on the light."

The feast began. Stephanie ate some ham and vegetables. She kept looking at this Michael kid talking to Layla.

'P.s. no boyfriends for Layla!' Her aunt told her.

Everyone finished their meal and headed to their houses. Once Stephanie was in the common room she laid on one of the couches. Her head was in Blaise's lap while her feet were on daphne's lap.

"Woah Stephanie this place is so cool!"

"I know Hogwarts is amazing."

"By the way this is Michael." Michael put his hand out for Stephanie to shake. Stephanie got up and looked down at him.

"If you hurt Layla, I know many spells to kill and torture you with. Just keep that in mind. Stephanie Snape by the way." She shook his hand. He looked at her in fear. Stephanie went back to her original position and Blaise played with her hair.

"A little harsh Steph."

"I'm just making sure that the boy knows not to mess with me."

"Well it worked. He's practically scared of you now." Theo said as he sat next to Daphne while putting his arm around her.

"I'm gonna head to bed now we have class tomorrow."

"I'll be there in a minute Steph." Daphne said. Stephanie nodded as a reply and headed upstairs. She brushed her teeth and changed into more comfortable clothes. She laid on her bed and fell asleep.
