Jordan's Point of View
Wavy - SZA
A few hours after school, near sunset, I laid on my bed, busy with my homework. Then suddenly, my door swung open slowly, and our French bulldog, Roxy, walked in, with it's dog leash in it's mouth, pleading me to take him for a walk.
And since movie night was cancelled, I gladly accepted her plead. "Aww" I rubbed Roxy's head and climbed off my bed. Before exiting my room, I put on a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie with Nike slippers. I then went downstairs to the kitchen where I found my whole family, except Kyle. I currently didn't care where he was, cause he's always at a friend's house or locked in his room, playing games. Anyway, not saying a word, I opened the fridge and got myself a bottle of water. Right after, I was in the road, humming to music in my head and getting weird stares from Roxy. We safely made it to the dog park and so, I loosened the leashed and allow her to play around with the other dogs. In the meantime, I sat on the wooden bench under a huge oak tree, getting my skin kissed by the sun and continuously taking photos and posting them on my social media stories. At sunset and after my dad's phone call, demanding that I come home, I rose from the bench, called Roxy and we strolled back home. On our way there, a very familiar truck came from the opposite side of me and cautiously stopping in front of me.
As I waited for the driver's next move, instantly recognized him as he climbed out of the truck and pulled his shirt straight.
"Hey Caleb" I casually greeted him.
"Hey you" he simply said as he made his way around the front of the truck and came standing in front of me. "What are you doing here?"
"I was walking my dog" I said as I signaled him to look down.
"Oh" he then squad down and petted Roxy's head, then read the dog collar, "Hey Roxy" then stood back up.
"Are you walking home?" he asked and I nodded.
"It's already sundown, let me take you home" he offered and obviously, I declined.
"Come on, Roxy can sit in front" he said as he opened the passenger door and signaled me to climb in. My face warmed up of blush and I was in no mood for his presence, but I finally nodded in acceptance and climbed in. Then he climbed in. At first the drive was silent, then we casually started talking about our holidays and what we did during Christmas. Then, out of the blue, my mouth had its own idea of asking, "So, I heard you're back together with Maddie?" I felt so ashamed for invading his privacy and relationship. It literally had nothing to do with me.
"And who told you that?" he scoffed.
"Uh, the whole school did"
"No, today I finally ended it with her. For good this time" he confirmed, "She just doesn't wanna seem less cool, cause unknowingly, I was making her more cooler than she already was. But finally, I grew a pair and broke up with her"
"Why all of the sudden now?"
"Cause...I'm inlove with someone else"
"Don't worry, I'm not gonna ask who she is"
"I know you won't"
We finally reached our house and just when I wanted to thank him and open the door, he asked me to be his tutor. It really had taken me by surprise cause I wasn't really the smartest person at school. I could've said no but his eyes seemed like he was begging and really in need. So, "Sure"
"Tomorrow after school then?"
"Yeah"
"Can I have your phone number?" he asked "SoI can call you" I quickly gave him my phone number and climbed out. Just as both me and Roxy reached the door, Caleb called my name outloud and said, "I'll text you tonight" then drove off. I then walked inside, Jacob and Kyle was sitting on the couch, playing games with Kyle's gaming console. My dad was probably gone cause his car wasn't in the parking lot and Cynthia was behind the stove, wearing an apron. After greeting them all, I went up to my room, took my shoes off and went back downstairs. Sat down on the couch, across from Jacob and checked my social media.
From time to time, I'd notice how Jacob has been making weird facial expressions at me and it was really distracting."What?" I confronted him.
With no words in response, he stood up from the couch and went ot the kitchen, still staring at me but with a smirk. Got himself a canned coke then came sitting down right next to me.
"Same guy from school?" he started, stealing me password unprotected phone from my hand and getting busy.
"Yeah" I frowned in confusion.
"Is he a nice person?" Even though he asked that, his eyes was also pleading to go through my texts and I obviously allowed him cause I had nothing to hide.
"Why do you even wanna go through my texts? I'm not dating anyone, barely has a crush so you won't find anything interesting" I let him know. Then my dad walked in and after greeting with a simple "Goodnight", he mentioned that he wanted to see me in his office. Because of that, it was possible to hear a needle fall when the room turned extremely silent.
"I'm coming" I stood up from the couch and followed him up to his office. The tension was overloading the atmosphere and was seriously causing my stomach to do some flips. Was he gonna confront me about my sexuality, or did I do something wrong?
..."The reason why I called you up here is because I wanted to ask you something very important" he started, not even trying to settle down the tension so I thought that I should come out before he asked.
"Okay, but before you ask me that, I have to tell you something more important" I said and he borrowed me his ears, "I'm gay"
"Really?"
I nodded.
"I knew it all along"
