i don't wanna be your friend (i wanna kiss your lips)
von Maya, MayJestic [MayJesticArchive of our own]

Felix is lying on the floor of Chris' childhood bedroom, his legs propped up on the bed, when Chris asks him.

"You wanna run away with me?"

Felix almost gets whiplash trying to sit up so he can look the older in the eyes. Once he manages to, he's met with Chris' nonchalant gaze.
He's totally serious.

"What?"

"Just for a day," Chris answers, shrugging his shoulders. "You know I've never really been outside of Sydney."

"Still," Felix says anyway - he doesn't even know what he's referring to. "Where is this coming from?"

"Do you never think about how final life is?" Oh, Felix most definitely does. It's something that occupies his mind much more than he's comfortable with.

Felix spends a lot of time in his head thinking about human existence, his choices, Chris.

His childhood best friend.

Felix always felt guilty for wanting more. The more he wished his feelings away, the stronger thay became.

Chris is his soulmate and it's killing Felix.

"How we could die tomorrow and so many things would be left undone? So I want to live instead of just exist." The younger nods his head in understanding.

"And you chose me to run away with?" The expression on Chris' face screams 'duh, you idiot'. "Why?"

"Why not?"

"This is kind of a big deal," Felix explains, pushing himself off the floor and onto Chris' bed. "Why me? You could have chosen literally anyone else. You could have chosen Changbin. Or Han."

"You're my best friend, Lixie," Chris replies, his voice certain. "I don't want anyone else." Felix feels his cheeks heat up at that statement.

And if he secretly wishes that Chris also meant it in a different, not so friendly way, that's no one's business.

"So, do you want to or not?"

Felix has never been the type to disobey rules, to do things he knows he shouldn't. But the way Chris is looking at him, so vulnerable and hopeful, Felix can't find it in him to say no.

So he says yes. Chris' smile makes it all worth it.

"Then let's go," the older replies and immediately begins rummaging in his bedside drawer. Felix's eyes almost pop out of their sockets.

"You mean now?", he asks, sounding absolutely beside himself. Chris doesn't answer until he finds what he's looking for, letting out a small 'ah'. He turns around with his eyebrows furrowed.

"Uh, yes?", he says, confusion evident in his tone. "It would just be a normal trip if we planned when and where and how, Felix." The younger thinks he can't really argue with that and simply shrugs his shoulders.

"You ready?", Chris asks, getting up from the bed, shoving what looks like a cassette tape into the pocket of his jeans. Felix lets a smirk creep onto his lips.

"Hell yeah." With that, the younger jumps up from the bed and simply follows Chris.

The both of them tip-toe down the hall. Chris grabs his mom's keys off the drawer with a giggle. He throws open the door and Felix closes it behind himself as quickly as he can.
