I come to my senses to the smell of eggs and bacon, I slowly get up and slide on my geared up pants, I don't even bother changing my shirt, I brush and braid my long blonde hair, then I head to the kitchen where I see everyone, T-Dog places some eggs on a plate before sliding them infront of Glenn, "Eat them, they might help with the hangover" Daryl teases him, he groans, "Never let me drink again" he says, I grin and walk into the room, I walk over behind Daryl and lean down and give him a kiss, then I walk over to the fridge and grab a soda, "Jade, why'd you let them do this to me?" Glenn groans, I snort, "Lightweight" I tease, Daryl snorts and busts out laughing, everyone soon joins in. Shane walks in wearing a long sleeve shirt, probably to cover the cuts in his arms from the glass from the table I shoved him into last night, the laughter is immediately sucked right out of me, "Dude your neck" Merle says, "Yeah I know, must've done it in my sleep" he says walking past me to to fridge, I feel my cheeks burning and I quickly leave the room, I go to mine and Daryl's room and bring our bags and bows to the kitchen and or main room.
Jenner walks in with a bottle of wine in his hand, "Vi, power up section 1 of the main work station" he says, "Powering up Section 1 of the main work station" the electronic voice replies, suddenly a screen boots up and there is an X-Ray of a body and the brain laying in front of us, "What are you doing?" I ask, "Showing you guys what you need to know" he says, "Vi, show stage one" Jenner commands the machine, "Once you are bit, it may take minutes to days to shut your entire body down, it's a virus to the mind. Your vital organs shut down so the brain can try to conserve the energy stored in your body" Jenner explains, "Vi, go to stage 2" he says, then the tiny spectacles in the brain slowly turn black, "What's happening to the brain cells?" I ask.
"This virus attacks the brain once your heart shuts down, then your brain shuts down completely" he says, "Then how come they are just coming back to life and are practically invinsible?" Merle asks, "Vi, go to the 3rd and final stage" Jenner responds and the brain stem turns entirely black before they slowly regenerate, "It starts the brain back up?" I ask, "Yes, but the thing is your brain cells are gone, everything you ever were, everything that made you, you, are gone. This virus only restarts the parts of the brain that are important, the ability to walk and eat are the two essential need to these things. The rest is unimportant" he says, I stare at the screen perplexed, then something black shoots through the brain, "What was that?" Carl asks, "He just shot the subject in the head" I reply, and then I peice the puzzle together, "She was your wife, wasn't she?" I ask, he looks at the picture sitting on his desk, then he sits down, "Jenner, what happens when that timer hits zero?" Dale asks, "The back-up generators go out of fuel" he replies, "Then what?" I ask, he doesn't answer me.
"Vi, what happens when the generators run out of fuel?" I shout, "Full decontamination will occur" Vi says, "What the hell does that mean?!" Glenn shouts, "HIT's are employed" Jenner says, "And those are?" Glenn says, "High impulsive thermobaric explosion" I say, "What?" Glenn asks, "Vi, define" Jenner says, "HIT's are High Impulsive Thermobaric fuel-air explosive consists of a 2 stage aerosol ignition which produces a blast wave of significant greater power and duration then any other known explosion except nuclear. The Vacuum pressure effect ignites the Oxygen in the air between 5,000 and 6,000 degress and is used when the greatest loss of life and damage to stuctures is desired" it responds, "What the hell? Will someone please explain this to me, its a bunch of large words, and I'm still clueless" Merle says, "In a shorter version, it ignites the air on fire, killing any harmful bacteria or virus from here, do you guys even realize what kind of things are in this facility? Ebola, The Black plague, Anthrax, Measles, the Marburg virus, Rabies, HIV, Smallpox, the deadlest of deadly viruses are in this building" I say.
A door slams behind us, I spin around to look at it and another closes, "Are you locking us in?" Glenn asks. "Let us out, Jenner" Rick yells, "Your death will be short and painless, wouldn't you rather die in here than out there as one of those things?" Jenner asks, "I'll take my chances out there!" Daryl yells, "There is no hope, Rick, you said that yourself last night, don't you remember? You said it was only a matter of time before everyone you love is dead" Jenner yells back, Lori looks at Rick in shock, "You said that?!" she asks pulling Carl into her chest. Daryl, T-Dog, and Shane are now throwing and hitting heavy objects off the doors, "Those doors are made to withstand a rocket launcher, your just wasting your time" Jenner says, Daryl storms over to Jenner with his Axe in his hand, "Open the god damned door!" Daryl yells. I grab his wrist to stop him, "If you kill him we're never getting out of here" I say.
"I think your bluffing" Rick says, "I think there is a cure, why else would you stay here and continue your studies?" he adds, "Because I made a promise to Ts-19, she was my wife. I should've been the one on that table, not her" Jenner says, "She would've wanted us to find a cure and try to save humanity, we could be the last and your going to be the one who destroys it all. Jenner, open the door" I say, he sighs and types something into his security keypad thing. The metal door opens, "Grab what you can. You we don't have much time. Let's Go!" Rick yells, Daryl retrieves our bags and I see Andrea sitting against the desk, "Andrea?!" I yell, "Go, I'm staying here" she says sadly, "Go Daryl, I'll be out, I'm not leaving without her" I kiss him and give him a push forward.
I walk over to Andrea and crouch down, "Come on, We need to go" I say, "I'm staying here, I can be with Amy soon" she says, "Andrea, Amy wouldn't want this and you know it" I say close to tears, she doesn't listen, "Andrea, I'm sorry for this" I say and throw her over my shoulder before running out.
I practically throw her over the sand bags to protect her from the explosion, "come on!" Glenn yells and I drag her off the ground and into the RV, "Everybody down!" Rick yells and I slam the door of the RV closed.
