Never Wake The Dead (TWD Fanfic)

**Chapter 14-Overrun**

I've been walking a while now and I decide to go back to my old ways and I climb a tree, once I get to a safe height I settle in for the night. I think of Daryl and the group until eventually I nod off to sleep.

{Daryl's P.O.V.}
I still can't believe she's gone. It doesn't make any sense to me. I was really starting to like her and she just leaves me like that. I'm such a dumbass, I should've been there, I was supposed to protect her, I should've figured out what was wrong, then I could've dealt with it, it's all my fault. If I had done what I was supposed to she'd still be here. Why did I just let her leave, Ugh. Actually shouldn't of even got involved with her, I'm such an idiot! I think as lean against a tree staring at the fire.

I'm pulled from my thoughts when I hear a ear splitting scream, I turn around to a walker biting into Amy's neck. Oh God, I grab my crossbow and the quiver Jade gave me and quickly dispose of the walker, then more screams followed by Walker moans, "Just when you think shit can't get any worse" I mumble, Dammnit Jade, where are you when I need ya?

{Jade's P.O.V.}
I jerk awake to the sound of gunshots and screaming, I nearly fall out of the tree. That scream is all to familiar, its Carl. "Motherfu-" I get cut short of my sentence by the moaning below me, "Well shit" I say to myself, my only 3 options are 1, to jump down and try to eliminate them. 2, to try and distract them, or 3 jump to a near branch and flee. I decide to distract them and then jump down and kill them, I check for my pistol in my holster, then I look through my bag for something to throw. Nothing, then an idea pops into my head, I break off a small branch and lay it in my lap, I reach for my boot knife but its not there, "Shit" I say and go for the my buey knife in my top left pocket, "Thank you Jesus!" I say a silent prayer. I cut my palm and rub it across the bark, then I carefully throw the branch as far as I can. 3 of the 5 walkers go after it. I slowly climb down and jump off, I stab the 2 walkers and run to camp pulling out my pistol from its holster. I see Andrea sobbing over something and I hear Shane and Rick screaming to get people to the cars, I shoot a walker that is getting ready to chow down on Daryl, he looks in my direction but he can't see me due to the darkness.

I dart around killing what Walkers I could, I had to stop and load my gun, a Walker sneaks up on Shane, I have a quick silent debate with myself on whether or not he's worth saving. Of course my humanity kicks in and I shoot the walker in the head and move on to the next.

{Daryl's P.O.V.}

I still can't believe she came back, I've had her wrapped in my arms all night, there was no way I was letting her out of my sight. She wasn't gonna leave, not again. "We leave in the mornin" Rick says, I smile, I don't care when we leave as long as Jade is here I could go anywhere. I glance down and see her sleeping curled up in my chest. I continued to rock from side to side gently, Lori wraps a blanket around us, I smile, "Thank-you" I lip not wanting to wake Jade, she nods.

Some time later I begin nodding off to sleep and decide its best to head to bed. I gently pick Jade up and carry her to our tent, I lay her on the cot while I make a bed on the ground for us, then I quickly walk out and grab a first aid kit and a bucket of warm water, I head back in the tent and over to Jade, I take the warm rag and start to tend to the gashes and cuts on her face, she instantly wakes up and tries to sit, I gently press her back down, "It's ok. It's just me" I say, she relaxes.

{Jade's P.O.V.}
I felt something warm on my face and instantly woke up to meet Daryl's gorgeous blue eyes. I sit up with my feet dangling off the side of the cot, while Daryl cleans and wraps my shoulder, "Daryl?" I asked after a few minutes of awkward silence, "What?" he asks soothingly, "Why do you like me?" I ask, he looks directly into my eyes, "Like?" he asks, I look at him confused, he gives me one of those "really, come on" kinda looks, then it clicks, "Love?" I ask, he smirks, "Because" he says, "Because?" I press on, "I don't know, Jade, why do you love me?" he asks, "You can't answer a question with a question" I say, "Why not?" he asks smirking, "Daryl stop it, answer my question" I say, "I don't know what to say, Jade. I can't describe the reasons I love you, I just do. When you left me, I broke in two, There's really nothing more to say" he says, I'm totally speechless, I scoot over and he lays down with me.

"Daryl, I promise I'll never leave again. I'm sorry" I say laying on his chest, "You'd better not leave me, your ma girl, remember?" he jokes, I smile, Yes, I am your girl, I love you, I love you, I love you. Daryl Dixon. I want to say but instead I sit up and peer down at him, he plays with my hair. I lean down and kiss him. I pull away, "Why'd ya pull away?" he jokes, I smirk at him. Before I can predict what happens next he rolls over so he's overtop of me he brings his lips down on mine.
