"Do you have anything to wear for Saturday?"
"I mean... uh- I don't know what I mean."
"So, you don't have anything formal to wear."
Today was Wednesday and the four of us - the two siblings, the diplomatic-like daughter of a political candidate, and I - sat outside of my English lecture hall at the end of the day. Come to think of it, this was our usual hangout spot for our ragtag group, only this time it was a bit more crowded thanks to Yue's entourage and friends. Sokka began to talk more in depth about what we would do come Saturday and, after a couple minutes of discussion, we encountered a couple problems, namely our lack of formal dress wear, at least formal enough for this special occasion, save for Yue for obvious reasons.
"Katara?" Yue looked towards her, pleading with her eyes, asking through her gaze whether she owned such clothing. She shifted her gaze over to Sokka, keeping the same facial expression. "What about you, Sokka?"
"I have a blue satin dress in my closet," Katara answered, now scratching the back of her neck and scrunching up her shoulders, "but I think I might've grown out of it. It was the dress I wore for prom when I was still in high school." She grinned and chuckled nervously. "Sorry about that."
Yue sighed and grew a frown before turning her head back to Sokka who began to speak. "I also have a prom dress. It's blue of course but I may or may not have grown out of it as well.."
"Well," Yue breathed in, "what about you Aang?"
I shook my head.
She exhaled, sounding defeated and slumped back to sit against the red brick wall of the lecture hall. Suddenly, Yue perked up and grew a big smile on her face.
"None of you have classes to attend to, tomorrow right?"
The three of us shook our heads 'no'. Her smile grew bigger and she started to bounce up and down, clapping her hands.
"Perfect! Tomorrow, we're going to go get you three fitted for suits and a dress!"
Katara and I looked towards each other and looked just as excited about the prospect of getting outfitted for a personally tailored suit and dress. Sokka, on the other hand:
"Why do we have to do this tomorrow?"
"Because," Yue answered back in a sassy and sarcastic tone,"the earlier we do it, the faster you get your suit. We're already two days out from the Ba Sing Se Exposition, one day if you start counting on Thursday. I mean, I'll just go ahead and take your sister and Aang while you get to wear your two year old prom outfit.."
"Uh- that won't be necessary.." Sokka stammed, rubbing the back of his neck.
"I thought so," she smiled, patting Sokka's head while giggling. "Meet here tomorrow at noon. I'll have my chauffeur pick you guys up and drop you off at the tailor."
Chauffeur? What now?
We all nodded our heads in agreement and waved each other goodbye. If I'm going to be honest, I didn't know what a 'chauffeur' was but when Thursday came around and when I began to scan the busy streets for our ride, it didn't take too long for me to figure out who and what a chauffeur is.
"Ready for today?" Sokka asked, nudging me with his elbow and cocking a smile.
Although I'd like to think that he was smiling because of me, I knew deep in my head that he was ecstatic and smiling because we were being picked up by the luxury-looking, jet black Tesla with a small metal Water Borough insignia jutting upwards from the hood of the car.
