The Friday classes came and went; The four of us simply wanted to get our lectures over and done with so that we'd be closer to Saturday. Our professors, unfortunately, did not feel the same way we did and had decided to load us up with assignments that were due when classes resumed after the weekend. However, we bested our professors again because we all decided to meet up at the two sibling's apartment for a little study session and to hangout.
After school, the four of us - Katara, Sokka, Yue and I - began our walk towards Katara and Sokka's flat, which was very interesting since Yue was never seen walking along the sidewalks that lined all of Ba Sing Se. She always rode in her own family's vehicles or had her family's chauffeur drive her. On top of this, she ditched her ten to fifteen person posse that was also always seen with Yue, which was a good change of pace because it was just our group, the four of us and not the four of us in addition to a couple other people.
The two Water Borough siblings were not kidding when they said they lived in the more 'poorer parts' of the city. Compared to the bustling, well-kept portions of downtown where Yue and I generally lived in and where our University was located at, their place looked more like a... hood, for lack of a better word. It was definitely in better shape than the actual hoods that made up the majority of the Earth Borough, like where Jet lived, but it was a far cry from the standards of downtown.
We all found ourselves in front of a six or seven story tall building with dark alleys on its right and left. Fire escapes scaled the sides as well. Compared to the other buildings here, it looked decent and well kept.
Sokka stepped forward to look at the three of us. "We're on the fourth floor. Sorry in advance because it's a little small compared to Aang's place. Yue, I don't know where you live but I'm also going to assume that this is smaller than your place."
He threw his arm forward, motioning for all of us to follow him as we walked up a small flight of stairs. "Follow me, I've got the key anyways." We all followed his lead as we walked into the foyer and then up another flight of stairs to the fourth floor.
Sokka stopped in front of one of the six doors lining the walls on the fourth floor. "Welcome to our humble abode. Sorry again if it's a little... cramped in here."
He took out his key, and unlocked the door. All of us walked inside. He wasn't kidding; it was pretty small. The ceiling was probably only three or four inches above Sokka's head and he was the tallest out of the four of us at six foot one inch. As we made our way further inside, we walked right into their living space which was made up of a blue couch with its cushions laying on the couch itself and on the floor below, a coffee table, and a small flat screen television which hung on the walls. Just beyond this was an even smaller kitchen, which would have probably taken up half the space of the entire living room. I could make it oak wood wall cupboards, an old microwave and an old, white fridge and a gas stove.
"Well, Yue and Aang, you guys can set your bags on the table next to that blue couch over there," Katara said, pointing towards the coffee table in the living space, "I'll bring some snacks so we can get straight to work." Then, she walked over to the kitchen and started to shuffle around through the cupboards. From the sound of it, she was probably bringing over some bags of chips.
"Not gonna lie, this sounded great when you pitched it to me when we were back at school when I had the will to do my assignments. But now... I think I'm going to go play some video games" Sokka said. "Aang, wanna play?"
Katara came back with some chips. "Really Sokka?" She sat down on one of the couch cushions on the floor while Yue and I sat on the couch. "We don't have the time to work on stuff this weekend."
"Katara's right, Sokka." I added on after Katara finished. "Sorry, I think I'm going to work on my stuff. Can I rain check you on the offer though?"
