You hear a gunshot sound coming from the living room. You run out of your room to see what happened.
In the middle of the living is your mom clutching her side as blood gushed out.
"MOM!" You cry.
"I told you that the next one would be you." Your dad says.
"You missed my head!" Your mother says cockily like she isn't bleeding out.
"I wasn't talking to you, idiot. I was talking to our daughter." He smirks.
You turn to stare at your dad.
"You wouldn't." You stare down the barrel of your gun, he had found your gun.
Spencer busts into the room with the rest of the team.
"Put the gun down, NOW!" Spencer yells.
Spence, just help my mother. Promise me she will be okay?" You say calmly, tears streaming down your face.
"I promise angel. I need you to be there to make sure that I keep that promise, okay?" His cracks as tears begin to block his vision.
"Spence, it's okay, I-" you were cut off by a gunshot. More specifically, a gunshot to your head.
You bolt upright in your bed, sweating. You look over at your phone, it was 3:30 a.m., you had a terrible nightmare. You debated whether or not to call Spencer. You really wanted to hear his voice, but he was probably asleep.
You try, unsuccessfully, go fall back asleep, eventually giving up. Sighing, you crawl out of bed and get ready for work early.
After getting ready, you make coffee, only to spill it all over yourself.
"Shit!" You mumble as you start cleaning up the coffee. You head back into your bedroom to change, then decide against coffee.
You grab your school bag with all of your paper that you need to grade, and grade some papers.
After grading most of the papers, you check what time it is. It was only 6:05 a.m, you couldn't be at the school till 6:45 a.m. at the earliest.
You finish grading the papers, and head out early to stop at a bookstore to kill some time and maybe get a new book.

When you walk into the store, all you can think about is Spencer. You were so mad at yourself for snapping at him, why did you have to be so rude?
You skip all of the isle till you get to the romance books. You knew it would just make you think of Spencer, but at this point, what didn't make you think of him.
"Oh, hey y/n!" You hear someone say as you turn to walk into the isle. You turn around to see Carter standing in the isle across from you.
"Carter. I didn't know you read?" You say with a touch of sarcasm.
Carter laughs instead of taking offense. "I love to read. I learned the habit from my mom." He says sweetly.
"Are you close to your mom?" You soften.
"I used to be, I haven't talked to her since college."
You were stunned at how similar you and Carter were.
"I'm sorry to hear that, I'm the same with my mom. I just went to visit here actually."
"Is that why you weren't at the school yesterday?"
"Yeah, I was visiting my mom and brother!"
"No way! I have a brother too, he's one year younger than me. What about you?"
