TW: Mentions the assault incident

Prom ended and we all walked outside to the car, the early spring air gave in a cool breeze, the skies were so clear you could see all of the stars, my teeth chattered as I fast walked to the car.

"Are you guys ready to go the after prom party? It's at Kaya's house, you know, one of the girls on the dance team." Estrella talks while looking at her phone.

I definitely forgot about the after prom party, which happens to be every year after prom. It's always held at a rich girls house whose either on the dance or volleyball team. Kaya is this wealthy girl who lives in Poblano county, where all these big houses are located outside of town. That also means Meadow will be there, which I'm not looking forward to, it makes me feel nervous, like a disaster is waiting to happen.

Once we get to Kaya's house, several cars pull in behind us. There's a huge fountain in front of her house along with a very nicely paved driveway. People walk in with us, as I wrap my hands around Raf's arm. There's loud thumping music that I can feel vibrating the whole house. Two girls are already falling all over the staircase and two football players in suits just shot gunned a beer. Raf must've known them and went to tell them hi, so I left to go get myself a drink. I didn't feel like drinking so I grabbed a canned Arizona tea that I had found. Estrella followed as she brought out bottles of cheap green apple flavored liquor and mixed her own drink. We sat around awkwardly at first until we met two girls from a high school out here, County High. Meghan and Brielle. Both of them were blonde and obviously spray tanned,
but we're both very sweet. They came up to us, complimenting our dresses and taking about graduation coming up. We made several trips to the bathroom doing touch ups and taking mirror pictures to post on our private snapchats. I may be sober but I could still have a good time.

I checked my phone and it was almost 4:00am. I was having so much fun that I lost track of time. Rafael, I forgot about and we were supposed to go home by now.

"I gotta go find Rafael guys, I'm tired and ready for bed. I'll text you when I find him and when I get home, Estrella." I give everyone a hug and quickly leave. As I head downstairs, it's still full of people. I struggle to move past people as nobody hears when I say excuse me. I'm basically shoving my way through at this point, calling Rafael's name as I search everywhere. Suddenly I hear his voice in the living room and I'm relieved. But as soon as I walk in, I nearly fell down to the ground. My air had been taken from me, as if someone had punched me in the stomach. Meadow who had changed into a slutty outfit was sitting on Raf, her face smooshed up against his, her arms wrapped around his neck. This was the disaster moment. I knew something that wasn't good would come to light tonight.

"Raf?! What— what are you doing?" My voice sadly cracked as I approached the couch. Rafael quickly stands up, his breath reeks of beer and blunts.

"No Fabi, this looks bad I know but she"

"She what? Forced herself on you? I don't buy it. You were kissing back! Why?!" Tears fill my eyes, my voice weakens.

"I, I dont know."

Wow. Just like that. Maybe Alex was right the night of the fair. He would just use me until he was bored. And as soon as Meadow walked back into the picture, he'd run to her without even thinking of everything we had together. I may not be his first love, but I was first in line when it comes to who loves him the most. And just like that, within moments and time, it's over. The bright love I thought was mine to keep was gone. I put my fingers on the locket he bought me, and take out the picture of Chai and put it in my purse. I rip the necklace off, causing it to break and the little beads to fall onto the floor. Everyone is looking at this point but I don't care l. I throw it at the middle of his chest.

"You're such a liar. About everything."

I run to the front door as Raf follows.

"Wait! You don't even care to listen to what I have to say?"

"I'm always listening to what you have to say. You don't know why you kissed her, really?!"

"Do you really expect me to not react when someone who I used to care about does that to me?"

"Do you expect me to not react when the love of my life kisses a girl who isn't me? How dare you. What's the matter with you?"

"Look I'm sorry, I'm just confused."

"Do you love her?"

"What?"

"Do you love her?"

Silence.

"I'm waiting."

"I don't f*cking know Fabi okay? I need to figure sh*t out."

"So that's it? After all we've been through, you'd throw it away for her? Last year we were inseparable, you made me feel safe and wanted. And it took me so long to let a boy touch me after," I started to choke on my words as tears started to fall, "after, I was r*ped freshman year. I thought I could
never trust again until I met you and now that's ruined. You don't care and you never did." I'm repeatedly wiping my tears. Raf freezes and steps closer as he puts his hands on the sides of my arms.

", Oh my God, Fabi how come you never told me? You know I care about you, don't say I don't."

You don't because you still love her." I push him off. "I'm leaving."

Ive seen him cry but never flaming
hot furious at me, and since he's drunk, I don't think he cares for what he's about to say.

"Fine then leave, we're done. Don't ever come back." He turns away and hits a wall, and I run out the door.

I call Alexander and he picks me up. When he gets there, he runs out of the car as I collapse into his arms, crying silently, unable to catch my breath and grasp on what just happened.
