Natsu's POV:

"Tch. I don't get why we can't just mark our mates and get it over with Gramps." I said to him.

He gave me a glare of annoyance. "Natsu..." He growled. It surprised me, but it was just an empty threat.

"Let's just get this season over with already! Just bring the girls to us so we can mark them!"

"Natsu! They could die if I do that!"

Now that surprised me. "W-what?" I asked, my voice cracking.

"Dragon Mating Season makes the slayers feel aggressive and overprotective. If they get too mad, their mind and judgement may become clouded, and they could accidentally kill their mates, thinking they are an enemy. You only get one mate, Natsu. Only ONE true love."

I didn't speak after that. Gramps left and we just decided to endure our situation for the next few weeks.

One question ran through my mind though.

Who is my mate, anyways?

Gray's POV:

It hurt me to not see any of my friends for the next few weeks, but there was nothing I could do. We would just have to get through it. I'd rather not see my friends for a few weeks then not see them ever again. I'm not that happy about spending my time down here with Natsu though.

As if he didn't piss me off enough already with our usual fights, he's been bullying Lucy ever since Lis got back. She's really nice too, and her, Lucy, and Levy really get along well. Sometimes even Yukino comes over to talk about books with them.

I don't get what his deal is. Has his old crush for Lisanna come back and cleared his already empty mind?

Its not like I wish Lisanna never came back, it's just that I wish everything was the same as it was before, but better now that Lisanna was here.

Gajeel's POV:

Shrimp...

I couldn't stop thinking about her. I know for a fact she's my mate, and I love her to death even if she doesn't feel the same way, but kill her? Could that really happen if I got mad? No, that old man must have gotten his facts wrong. I'd never kill Levy. Never.

All I wanted to do right now is see her and have one of our usual fights, just to see her adorable reaction. But I can't. If there is a small sliver of possiblity that I might hurt her, then I would gladly wait a few weeks so that that chance will disappear.

There are only three people I live for.

Juvia and Wendy, who I see as my own sisters.

And Levy, who is my sweet, adorable mate.

Cobra/Erik:

I can hear it. Their thoughts.

Natsu, his thoughts full of questions.

Gray, his thoughts filled with dislike for a certain fire dragonslayer.

Gajeel, his thoughts filled with only his mate and her wellbeing.

Laxus, repeating Mokarov's words in his head over and over, thinking about how it will affect his own mate.

Sting and Rogue, picturing their mates in their mind.

I doubt any of us have actually found our mates and marked them yet. I couldn't mark Kinana back then because she was a snake.

Kinana...

No! She's fine, I know it. She can handle herself, plus she has the others with her.

My head started hurting, so I decided to sleep it off.

Mokarov's POV:

I felt bad for the slayers. This is Wendy's and Gray's first season, so they don't know what to expect. I don't even know if it will affect Wendy. The others will probably be too miserable to tell Gray. Actually, I'll rephrase this. I feel bad for all of them EXCEPT Natsu. That brat is only getting what's coming to him. I still feel a little pity for him because he's still one of my children though.

I walk back up to the guild and call over Freed and Evergreen.

"I want you two to update the security on those slayers downstairs. Don't let them out. NO MATTER WHAT. You hear me?"

They nodded and began to reinforce security. The doors are made out of metal even Gajeel can't eat. Natsu cannot burn it and Gray cannot freeze it. The others' magic will be useless against it as well. They would have to rely on raw strength, and since it's triple reinforced, it would take time, even in their overpowered state.

Mating season will make the slayers smarter and stronger. Their senses will be at a new max too. I doubt we will be able to keep them here for the whole season, but we can at least try.

I have to warn the rest of the guild not to go down there by any means necessary. They will be in extreme pain since they are not near their mates, and their screams will be heard, even all the way up here. I cannot let anyone free them out of pity.

I went to the second floor and got on top of the railing.

"Listen up everyone!"

Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at me as I continued.

"It is mating season for the dragon and devil slayers. They are extremely dangerous, especially to their mates. Their mates have been sent away for the remainder of the season, which lasts until the next 2-3 weeks. They will be in unimaginable pain, and you will hear them scream in agony. Whatever you do, do NOT go down there."

I heard murmurs, questioning what they should do.

I sighed, deciding to tell them more than I originally had planned to.

"If you go down there, it will give them a chance to escape and hunt down their mates, while possibly hurting everyone here because we got in their way. They can possibly KILL their mates if they are let go. They will not be in their right mind, so they can mistake anyone for an enemy and seriously injure us. Whatever you do DO NOT GO DOWN THERE. The mating season will make them stronger, smarter, and their senses will be amazingly accurate. Am I clear?"

Everyone nodded, not daring to speak.

With that settled, I went to oversee the reinforcement in security.
