He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not (GrayLu)

Chapter 13:

Natsu's, Gajeel's, Sting's, Rogue's POV:

Mate...
Must mark mate.

That's what my inner dragon said to me. It was starting to hurt. A lot. I need my mate. I need to break out. But are the others in this much pain? It doesn't matter. Either they help me, or they don't. I can't take much more of this agony.

Gray's POV:

Everyone but me, Laxus and Erik have a weird look in their eyes. Their eyes turned black. Natsu's already onix black eyes turned to navy blue.

The 3 of us looked at them, knowing that their mating instincts have taken over. All they care about is their mate and how to get to them. By the looks of it, they formed an alliance to get their mates.

It was a few minutes to midnight. I remember Gramps saying that midnight makes our powers skyrocket. Luckily we've slept through most of it, so we've basically been unconscious when we were given chances to break out. Luck has run out though. Once our senses awaken at midnight during mating season, we become more powerful. Our new power level goes down only a little whenever it's daytime, so that's the only time the girls have a chance at escaping when the boys find them.

It's been almost two weeks since the girls left and we were locked down here. The slayers have a week to find their mates.

The clock signalled midnight and the magic power in the room is off the charts. The few radiating the most power though, are Natsu, Gajeel, and...me.

"C-Control it, Gray." I told myself. Right when the clock struck midnight, I began to lose control of my body. It felt like something was clawing at the inside of my skin. It hurt so bad I almost couldn't take it. I considered giving in just to stop the pain, but the thought of me hurting Lucy or another person kept me from doing that. Laxus only winced a few times, as did Erik. They must have more mental strength than we do.

The devil inside me began to stop trying to get out. I breathed heavily, but then my breathe hitched when I heard the cell door slam open. Well, more like slam off of its hinges.

I looked up, and everyone was out of their handcuffs, and the door was on the floor in pieces. Gajeel stood in the doorway, his hand shifting from metal to his skin. He must have used iron club to break the door down.

The four of them walked out casually, with faces that made me realize that they were no longer in control of themselves. Any control they might have still had is gone. Their dragon spirits have taken over in order to find their mates.

Me, Laxus, and Erik looked at each other, then got up, broke the handcuffs on our wrists, and ran out behind them.

On the way up the stairs, we saw multiple guild members unconscious or knocked out. Gramps must have upped our security.

When we finally reached the top of the stairs, we opened the door, and a bright light appeared, then we teleported to the Fairy Tail guild hall. Gramps must have also set up a teleportation lacrima that was synced to the door.

We walked into the guild hall and saw the rest of our members scattered and hurt, and Gramps helping them up.

He looked at us as we stepped in, and he froze.

He then looked us in our eyes and visibly relaxed.

"I see you 3 still have control?" He asked.

We nodded and looked around.

"We have to stop them from reaching the girls. Where did they go, Gramps?"

He sighed, and told us. "The girls are at a hidden mansion high in the mountains that surround the backside of Clover." He said. "Now go and stop those slayers from hurting their mates. Watch out for Natsu too. He could be going for Lisanna or Lucy, and he might use that to trick you." He warned us.

He gave us a teleportation lacrima so that we can get there before the affected slayers. We might only get there an hour or two before them at the most. Their speed and attack power has been increased along with their magic power because of the mating season.

The 3 of us used the lacrima and suddenly appeared in front of a huge mansion, hundreds of feet above Clover, tucked in between its mountains.

We knocked, and Erza answered. When she saw us she immediately summoned a sword and got into a battle stance.

We put our hands up so we wouldn't be sliced into pieces by her.

"Hey hey wait Erza! We're not affected! Gramps sent us here after the other slayers broke out. They are the ones affected. They'll be here soon, so we need to get the girls and their guards out of here quickly!" I said.

She pulled us in and locked the door in one swift move.

"Guys get down here!" She yelled.

Suddenly, Lucy, Lisanna, Levy, Mira, Kinana, Yukino, Kagura, Wendy, Juvia, Jellal, Meredy, and Ultear came downstairs in a rush.

"Erza!"
"What's wrong!"
"Did they find us?!"
"Crap some of them are already here!"
"Why did you let them in?!"
"I'm scared!"
"What's gonna happen to us?"

Everyone talked at once, and Erza started to get annoyed.

"Quiet!" Yelled Jellal, surprisingly.

Erza gave him a look of gratitude and continued.

"Gray, Laxus, and Erik are for some reason not affected by the mating season right now. The others are, and they escaped. Master sent them here to help us escape them, and they said that they will be here in at the most an hour. Go to your rooms and pack quickly! Now!"

They all scattered into different rooms, and a few minutes later they came out with backpacks filled to the brim with their personal necessities.

Erza grabbed another bag and headed into the kitchen, where she pack food and drinks, cooking materials, and anything else food related that would fit.

She carried it and her personal bag out of the house, with the rest of us following her. Me, Laxus, and Erik were next to her, acting as compasses and guides, making sure the group doesn't run into any of the other slayers. The girls were separated into groups, which must have been established when they left, so they could be protected while being separated. I have to admit, that was a smart idea.

It looked like there were 3 separate groups, with one of the Crime Sorciere members in each group. The dragon slayers and I were told to stick with a group. I wanted to be with Lucy, but I still suspected her as my mate, and if I started to unexpectedly get affected by the mating season, she would be in more danger if she really was my mate. So I decided to stick with Ultear's group. Laxus stuck with Erza's and Jellal's group, and Erik stuck with Meredy's group. That way no one was in the same group as their mate, for the same reason as me.

I wanted to guard Lucy really bad, but I figured she would be more safe with Laxus anyway. I tried my best not to show disappointment. After all, I haven't seen Ultear in awhile anyways. I should use this time to catch up with her, but not now. I had to make sure the slayers weren't around.
